Job summary The Emergency Department are recruiting a Band 2 Facilities Assistant to join our team.
The role will include cleaning of equipment, maintaining a tidy environment, stocking up and maintenance of stock levels on the unit.
It will also involve liaising with clinical engineering to ensure the maintenance of equipment and IT to ensure the maintenance of IT equipment.
The successfully candidate will also be involved in transferring patients, equipment within the unit and other areas of the hospital.
You should have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a large team; you should also be able to multitask and also be capable of planning your own work.
We are a friendly department which is open 24/7 and are able to be flexible with hours Main duties of the job Job Summary Participates in cleaning, stocking up and other non-clinical duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the department.Cleaning of Equipment as per Infection Control Guideline.Transfer of patients within the unit and other areas of the hospital and escorting patients to other departments.Maintaining stock areas clean, tidy and maintaining stock supplies on the unit.The post-holder is expected to be flexible, multitask, and have the ability to work within a team and independently without direct supervision.The post-holder will be expected to provide a vital supporting role to the Emergency Department carrying tasks which will include but not limited to patient and non-patient portering, general maintenance and organisation of stores.

Job description Job responsibilities Communication Communicates effectively and respectfully with patients, their relatives/visitors, ward/team leaders and all members of the multi-professional team utilizing both verbal and non-verbal communication methods.
Adapts communication methods as required for patients with sensory impairments such as hearing loss, speech difficulties, seeking support and guidance from the Registered General Nurse.
Works effectively as a member of the team and demonstrate understanding of the role of the team work in delivery of high quality care, understanding of the possible reasons for complaints and works in a manner which minimizes such events seeking the support and the guidance of the Registered General Nurse.
Clinical Maintains standards of Infection Prevention and Control within boundaries of your responsibility.
Ensuring that the equipment wheelchairs and trolleys are sited in designated areas are clean, maintained and and available for use at any time.
Participates in moving and handling patients in a manner which is safe for both the patient, colleagues and the post-holder in accordance to Trust Manual handling Policy and patient's individual risk assessments.
Participates in cleaning, stocking up and other non-cleaning duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the department.
Ensure own practice adheres to Trust Infection Control policies and Procedures at all times Hand Hygiene.
Role Responsibilities Demonstrate understanding of the boundaries of the Facilities Assistant role and the ability to assertively refuse to undertake skills/tasks which fall outside of role undertaking patient assessments.
Transfer of patients within the unit and other ares of the hospital and escorting patients to other departments.
Develop working knowledge of Endoscopy equipment and accessories and ordering systems on the unit and Trust.
Develop and maintains high standards of working relationships with patients, staff, managers as well as other departments in the Trust.
Attend yearly statutory training, which will include but not limited to Manual Handling, infection Control, Basic Life Support (Resuscitation), Fire and Health and Safety.
Ensure equipment and trolleys are signed in designated are clean, maintained and available at all times.
Ensuring the Department corridors, unit entrance are exits are kept clean and tidy, clear of obstacles and rubbish.
Participate in audits of stock on the unit and maintenance of stock areas on the unit ensuring adequate but not excessive supplies are maintained.
Ensure the unit meets and maintains a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness at all times.
Participate in cleaning, stocking up and other non-clinical duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the unit.
Contributes generally to the establishment and the development of a quality service.
Any other duties as required or delegated by the Nurse In Charge.
Have the ability to work to work within a team and independently without direct supervision.

Person Specification Education / Qualifications Essential No formal academic qualifications are required.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English using both verbal and written means of communication.
