Electrophysiology Fellow - Cardiology

Applications are invited for the post of Electrophysiology Fellow to work at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
The University Hospital Birmingham is the major centre for cardiac electrophysiology with the second largest catchment area in the United Kingdom with 4.5 million from Oswestry to Stafford to Rugby to Hay On Wye, and South Wales.
There are 4 dedicated electrophysiology consultants and 3 Electrophysiology labs performing around 800 ablations a year, at least half of which are complex ablations (atrial arrhythmias and ventricular tachycardia).
We also have close links with the adult congenital heart disease unit and frequently perform ablations in patients with congenital heart disease.

Main duties of the job The appointee is expected to take responsibility for all patients undergoing electrophysiology procedures in the labs.
The fellow will work with the EP registrars to ensure that all patients under the EP team are seen daily.
The Fellow will be trained in all aspects of cardiac electrophysiology.
If appropriately trained they will be expected to implant single and dual chamber pacemakers and defibrillators.
There is the opportunity to develop advanced pacing experience with our device team depending on space in their training program.
There is also the opportunity to develop experience in device extraction.
The fellow will have two dedicated outpatient clinics a week with their own patient list.
They may also be required to assist in a further specialist EP clinic, and very occasionally contribute to the on call rota.
