Security Clearance : British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship About the Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Electronic Architect to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of high-performance electronic systems in the defence sector.
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to define and design the architecture for advanced electronic systems that meet demanding customer requirements, operating in harsh environments with limited space.
You'll work closely with Project Managers and engineers to ensure seamless delivery of technical solutions, ensuring that designs meet both technical specifications and customer expectations.
With your expertise, you will guide the development of the electronic and electrical architecture, from initial concept through to detailed implementation.
Key Responsibilities Define the overall electronic and electrical architecture of complex systems, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and project constraints.
Decompose high-level customer requirements into detailed lower-level specifications for system sub-elements, driving design decisions and technical choices.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that electronic equipment is developed and delivered 'On Time, On Cost, On Quality.' Provide leadership and technical direction throughout the project lifecycle, balancing cost, time, and performance objectives.
Ensure designs meet stringent requirements for safety, reliability, and efficiency, particularly in high-performance and safety-critical environments.
Manage technical risks and issues, proactively identifying solutions and adapting to changing project dynamics.
Work closely with internal stakeholders and customers, ensuring clear communication and providing expert guidance on electronic design and architectural considerations.
Lead efforts to optimise the packaging, thermal management, and overall design for high-performance electronic equipment.
Collaborate with teams across disciplines to address the unique challenges of designing for distributed power networks, sensitive data handling, and compact systems.
What We're Looking For We're looking for a candidate with a deep technical understanding of electronic systems and proven experience in delivering complex projects, ideally in the defence or similar high-tech industries.
Educated to degree level (or equivalent) with a strong Electronics focus and significant experience in: Digital electronics and microprocessor systems Power electronics for distributed power networks Designing equipment for safety-critical and harsh environments Designing systems for handling sensitive customer data Understanding of software and firmware development techniques Compact packaging and thermal management for high-performance electronics Familiarity with System on Chip (SoC) technologies, RF , Signal Processing , and Software Defined Radio would be beneficial.
Experience in EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and Environmental Design for robust system performance would be advantageous.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable deliverables.
Proactive decision-making abilities in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
