About the role This apprenticeship follows the Embedded E lectronic S ystems D esign and D evelopment E ngineer ( D egree) S tandard , and leads to roles including d esigning and developing electronic circuits, devices, and systems.
As an E lectronic Design A pprentice, you will spend your initial training at the S kills A cademy producing several electronic projects to develop your skills and knowledge in basic electronic theory, components, basic circuit design, circuit construction and reporting.
You will then complete a variety of 6-month placements at AWE.
During this time you will also attend college part -time to complete your HND.
On successful completion of your HND, i n your final 2 years you will spend your time on further placements around the business , where you will also work towards your Apprenticeship End Point Assessment (Degree phase).
Throughout your apprenticeship you will attend several lectures designed to further increase your knowledge and understanding of electronic theory .
T hese include: Component recognition Component characteristics Circuit calculations Semi-conductor theory Fault - finding techniques Testing and measuring About You A practical aptitude for engineering & technology Computer literacy Excellent team working skills Good communication skills Awareness of health & safety Ability to follow instructions Passionate and motivated If you have an interest in Arduino or Raspberry PI , Analogue and Digital electronics, as well as designing , b uilding , testing and repairing electronic cir cuits, then we would love to hear from you!
Entry Requirements: HNC (level 4) in Electronics .
5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including Maths and English Applicants must be aged 1 8 or over, as of 31st August 2025 due to security clearance requirements You must be a British National to apply for a role with us.

Location Aldermaston (Reading / Basingstoke area) Start Date Wednesday the 27th of August 2025.
Annual leave will not be granted from 27th August until 3rd October, due to mandatory inductions and the requirement for you to complete as part of your apprenticeship .
Any leave approved after this point will depend on the training provider requirements for your apprenticeship and must be agreed in advance.

These roles are governed by Health and Safety at Work Regulations and require all candidates to have an Occupational Health pre-employment medical held at AWE which follows the initial selection process.
