Electrochemist – Li-ion Battery Cell (Applied Research) Oxford What you'll do… You will conduct advanced research and development in Li-ion battery materials, focusing on electrochemical processes to enable next-generation, high-performance cells.
This role is central to optimizing cell performance, safety, and lifecycle, and involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop cutting-edge electrochemical solutions for Li-ion technology.
Lead R&D in electrochemical processes and material interactions to improve battery cell energy density, cycle life, and efficiency.
Develop and refine electrode, electrolyte, and separator materials to enhance ionic conductivity, stability, and compatibility with next-gen battery chemistries.
Conduct in-depth electrochemical testing, including cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, and charge/discharge cycling to evaluate material and cell performance.
Analyze electrochemical data to identify performance trends and areas for optimisation, applying insights to enhance cell design and material formulations.
Work with R&D, cell design, and materials science teams to integrate electrochemical findings into cell prototypes and scale-up processes.
Maintain meticulous records of experimental methods, test results, and findings, preparing detailed reports for R&D leadership and project stakeholders.
Stay updated on advances in electrochemical technologies and battery industry trends to continuously bring innovative ideas to development projects.

What you'll bring… Strong background in electrochemical processes, cell reactions, and energy storage principles, with specific experience in Li-ion battery applications.
Skilled in electrochemical testing methods (e.g., EIS, CV, cycling) and proficient in data interpretation for material and cell analysis.
Understanding of Li-ion battery materials, including electrode and electrolyte chemistries and their effects on cell performance and stability.
Ability to develop innovative solutions for electrochemical challenges, optimising processes for improved battery performance.
