Our Market, Advisory and Analytics practice are looking for experienced Electricity Markets Modelling Engineers.

The Electricity Markets Modelling Engineers within Baringa maintain and develop our industry leading suite of electricity markets modelling and analysis tools, enabling Baringa to remain at the forefront of electricity market analysis globally. We create the modelling and data frameworks that allow Baringa consultants to be the leading trusted advisor on electricity markets for our clients.
As a modelling engineer in Baringa you will embody our foundational culture of being entrepreneurial, creative and take pride in being at the heart of the energy transition and the changing energy landscape.
We are now looking for talented modelling engineers to join us and contribute to the continued growth of our Market, Advisory and Analytics team, within our Energy & Resources practice. Working in the electricity markets group you will be at the forefront of electricity markets, developing the next generation of modelling tools, and the data and technical architecture that underpin them.
You will become part of a high calibre, curious and motivated team. You will get to work on exciting and challenging problems, collaborating with market facing consultants to ensure we keep our electricity markets analysis tools relevant in a rapidly changing energy industry. The role involves working closely with colleagues across our global offices to ensure a high quality and integrated approach to common issues and themes.
What you will be doing
You will be working within our experienced Market, Advisory and Analytics team to:
Build new tools that facilitate analysis and modelling of Electricity markets.Maintain and develop our data and technical architecture.Create dashboards that provide valuable insights to our consultants.Engage with consulting teams to understand their modelling requirements.Provide support to the consulting team in using new and existing tools.Mentor, support and develop other team members to ensure high quality modelling engineering capability is created and maintained within the team.Your skills and experience
We're looking for people to join the team who will be committed to designing and building high quality models, tools, data frameworks and computing architectures, to enable market-leading insights for our clients. We are looking for great candidates across a wide range of experience.
Essential You have a strong quantitative background in subjects such as mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, etc.You are comfortable developing in at least one general programming language (e.g. Java, Python, C# etc).You are comfortable developing in at least one SQL database management system (e.g. SQL server, Postgres, Oracle, etc).You are great at problem solving and love tackling challenging problems.You can communicate complex concepts succinctly to both technical and non-technical colleagues and clients.You are a self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others, work collaboratively and constructively with project partners, external stakeholders, and internal teams to achieve positive outcomes.You are intellectually curious and enjoy learning.You are passionate about working within the energy sector.Desirable You can code to a high level in Python and VBA.You can develop to a high-level using SQL Server.You have experience building dashboards in PowerBI.You have experience working in an Agile team.You have experience of computational modelling.You have experience/education within Energy.What a career at Baringa will give you Putting People First.
