About the Company Talent 84 is delighted to be representing our client; a rapidly growing , specialist subsea technology engineering business based in Newcastle upon Tyne in their search for an Electrical Workshop Team Leader.
About the Role Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Electrical Workshop Team Leader will be responsible for leading and supporting all workshop electrical technicians and staff within the team.
The incumbent will have overall responsibility for team success by agreeing, implementing and monitoring individual performance to achieve team objectives.
Main Responsibilities Motivate and support the team to achieve set objectives Positively communicate the purpose and objectives of the organisation.
Manage and utilise your resources effectively to meet required project build dates.
Effectively allocate and check progress of work within the team.
Responsible for allocation of time within the team, so that objectives are achieved Attend various Production meetings, including daily morning production meeting: Discuss project/area related progress, issues, and needs in accordance with schedule.
Liaise with designated Production team member for WO/area related issues especially sub-contract issues, parts issues, scheduling.
Work with Production/Engineers with area reorganisation and lay-out alterations.
Set SMART objectives for your team members in line with the companys vision and strategy and help them understand how they contribute to the overall success of the company.
Conduct regular 1-1 meetings with team members.
Carry out employee PDRs as per the organisational process.
Provide feedback for team members to identify ways of improving performance.
Identify training needs within your team, keeping the training matrix up to date.
Encourage continuous improvement, creativity and innovation in the team.
Manage apprentice training within your area if appropriate and provide opportunities that enable team members to meet required qualifications.
Be aware and have responsibility for health and safety for yourself and your team.
Ensure sustainability of all Continuous Improvement initiatives including 5C/5S within your team.
About you To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience gained firstly as a qualified and experience electrical engineering professional in an engineering setting and also possess some leadership experience i.e.
team leader/supervisor/senior technician/senior engineer etc.
Key selection criter ia Substantial electrical engineering technical expertise Educated to HND level as a minimum in an electrical (or related) discipline People Management/leadership experience Sound knowledge/experience of working with complex electromechanical systems Flexibility is needed with regards to overtime to ensure project deadlines are met A level of cross functional flexibility is needed depending on workload or attendance.
Must develop a learning adaptive culture through continuous improvement within teams Ability to carry out risk assessments Ability to differentiate accurately between systems, parts and materials Ability to follow the requirements of Standard Operating Procedures and work with minimal supervision The ability to present and communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
Excellent level of verbal and written communication Self-motivated, high energy, positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve; A solid understanding and experience of modern manufacturing methodology and procedures Understanding of manufacturing quality processes and controls The ability to read engineering drawings Experience in continuous improvement in a production environment Good IT skills including MS Office, and familiarity with the use of ERP systems and extraction and analysis of data to support continuous improvement activity JTRA1_UKTJ
