My client are a Small/Medium sized M&E Contractor who are based out of their HQ in Surrey and have been operating for over 30 years.
As a business, they turnover between £10mil - £12mil and employ 50 staff across business.
Projects are anything from D&B Commercial, Industrial, Super Prime Residential, Healthcare and some Shop Fitting.. Project Values go up to circa £4.5mil.
THE JOB – ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR Monday – Friday / 8am – 5pm / 40 hour weeks Due to growth, they are seeking an Electrical Estimator to join the team.
You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects using Ensign Software.
Duties: Project Assessment : Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope of work.
Conduct site visits to assess project conditions, if necessary.
Cost Estimation : Calculate the costs of materials, labour, and equipment required for the electrical components of a project.
Use estimating software to input data and generate detailed estimates.
Factor in potential risks and uncertainties that may affect costs.
Material and Labor Analysis : Identify and evaluate the quantity and cost of materials needed.
Determine labour hours and rates based on project size and complexity.
Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
Bid Preparation : Prepare detailed and itemized bid proposals for submission to clients or general contractors.
Ensure all estimates align with project timelines and client requirements.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to review estimates and finalize bids.
Budget Management : Assist in developing and maintaining project budgets.
Monitor and update estimates as project details evolve.
Provide input on cost-saving measures or value engineering options.
Client and Stakeholder Communication : Present estimates to clients, explaining the basis of calculations and any assumptions made.
Respond to client inquiries and adjust estimates as needed to meet client expectations.
Regulatory Compliance : Ensure estimates comply with local codes, standards, and regulations.
Consider safety and environmental factors in cost calculations.
Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of all estimates, bids, and supporting documentation.
Prepare reports on project estimates, including cost breakdowns and justifications.
Collaboration and Coordination : Work closely with other team members, such as project managers, engineers, and procurement staff.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain necessary quotes and information.
