Electrical / Electronic Design Engineer (Automation Systems) Cookstown Competitive Salary, open to negotiation About the Role: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical / Electronic Design Engineer to join their growing team.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in designing electrical systems and automation solutions for data centres.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering innovative and efficient electrical designs that ensure the smooth operation and scalability of critical infrastructure.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate cutting-edge automation systems into high-performance data centres.
Key Responsibilities: Design and Develop Electrical Systems: Create electrical designs for automation systems in data centres, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
This includes power distribution systems, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), backup power systems, lighting, and grounding systems.
Automation System Integration: Collaborate with automation teams to design and integrate control systems, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and other automation technologies into the electrical infrastructure of the data centre.
System Analysis and Optimisation: Conduct load analysis, fault studies, and other calculations to ensure optimal performance of electrical systems.
Propose energy-efficient and cost-effective solutions for electrical power distribution, automation, and control.
Project Coordination and Management: Work with project managers and other engineers to deliver electrical designs within project timelines and budgets.
Attend project meetings and provide updates on design progress and technical challenges.
Documentation and Reporting: Produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal and client use, including commissioning and test procedures.
Quality Assurance: Ensure designs adhere to the highest quality standards, carrying out thorough checks for accuracy, reliability, and compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC).
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest trends in electrical design, automation technologies, and data centre operations.
Participate in training programs and share knowledge with the team.
Qualifications & Experience: Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience in electrical design engineering, with a focus on automation systems for data centres or similar critical infrastructure environments.
Proven experience in designing and integrating electrical systems for high-tech facilities, particularly in the context of automation and control systems.
Strong knowledge of electrical design software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM PowerTools) and experience with modelling and simulation of electrical systems.
Experience with Power Distribution Systems such as switchgear, transformers, and backup systems (e.g., UPS, generators).
Familiarity with Automation and Control Systems, SCADA, BMS (Building Management Systems), PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and communication protocols.
Understanding of Data Centre Operations, including power efficiency, cooling systems, redundancy, and fault tolerance.
Strong knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE) and the ability to ensure compliance in all designs.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
