Tangent International are urgently looking for an Electrical Design Manager to work a 6 month rolling contract based in United Kingdom (Remote) Our Exciting Opportunity: We are advancing with new design processes always keeping ahead in the market, in 2022 we want to move Intelligent Site Engineering from trial volume to large scale BAU design process.
To support our new ways of working, we are now looking for a Structural Engineer who has strong experience in the telecom sector.
The client have a team of offshore engineers involved in the front-end site design, you and the team will support them in growing their knowledge and improving processes to keep aligned with customer design guideline changes.
Your expertise will contribute towards commercial discussions with the Accounts team and the Customer As an Electrical SME you will actively support designs in: Civils/Steel Frame /Piling and concrete, Special Foundations, End of life and structural failure solutions as well as complete the analysis of Telecom structures.
The role will require you to support our In-House design team, forming electrical calculations, validating, and signing off the work of the wider team as well as proactively support with drawings utilising AutoCAD.
Furthermore, a key responsibility will be reviewing new design documentation released ensuring this is adopted into the front-end design process whilst meeting requirements to achieve our first time-right objectives.
You will: Mentor on/offshore Design engineers.
Read and understand project specific documentation and provide guidance, support and training as required.
Work closely with the in-house Design team and External Design Partners to ensure Designs produced comply with the relevant regulations.
Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope in-volved, as required.
Read and interpret GA's (General Arrangement) and DD's (Detailed Design) Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively manage challenges.
Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team.
Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress; implementation of solution-based decisions to progress site designs.
Provide solutions-based forums to remove blockers through Engineering principals.
Establish a framework for necessary contributions from various departments and facilitate their collaboration.
Review Documentation issued by the client and implement into ongoing projects.
Run workshops with the Design teams on Design Solutions.
Chair client meetings on site level designs and provide Electrical guidance and expertise.
To be successful in the role you must have: Minimum BSC/BEng in Electrical Engineering.
Member of IET preferred, but not essential.
Minimum 3 years working on Telecoms Design Projects, ideally on Vodafone and/or Cornerstone projects.
Strong experience and ability to produce Electrical calculations along with checking to BS7671 18th Edition Regs and BS EN 62305 for Lightning Protection.
Experience producing designs for both AC and DC loads essential.
Project management and leadership/mentoring skills are essential.
Professional work experience in producing Electrical designs for proposed telecoms sites (both new build and upgrade).
Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of both project plans and site level designs.
Experience with AutoCAD 2D is essential to produce Electrical schematics and drawings.
Experience using Electrical calculations software (Modecsoft or similar).
Strong communicator and able to provide training to offshore resource and help guide the client to decisions.
