Electrical Design Engineer Location: Wincanton, Somerset Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week Salary: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per annum Duration: Permanent We are looking for a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join the design team.
This role involves providing expert technical support to our Sales Office and Sales Managers, as well as collaborating directly with customers to ensure that both standard and customized items are designed, priced, and documented accurately.
Key Responsibilities: Create quotations and develop technical drawings (e.g., wiring schematics) using AutoCAD.
Configure and test equipment prior to shipment from the workshop.
Maintain a comprehensive database of designs and test data.
Offer technical assistance to colleagues and customers.
Review and approve production drawings.
Update older drawings and manage drawing numbers effectively.
Provide on-site support and problem-solving as required.
Contribute to new product development initiatives.
Create and update CAD blocks for the shared library.
Support the company's overall growth by engaging in other tasks as directed by the manager.
Field Service Responsibilities: Conduct site surveys and generate detailed reports.
Deliver toolbox talks and systems training for clients.
Perform electrical and mechanical repairs on CEL-manufactured equipment.
Train customer teams in fault-finding techniques.
Ensure all safety protocols are followed on-site.
Complete necessary risk assessments and method statements.
Personal Requirements: Essential: Electrical qualification.
Proficiency in design software.
Experience in control panel design and component selection.
Independent site work capability.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Flexibility to travel and occasionally stay away from home.
Willingness to engage in production support and assist sales as needed.
Desirable: AutoCAD training.
Background in panel design and assembly.
Strong commercial and project quotation skills.
Familiarity with distribution equipment and components.
Knowledge of street lighting systems.
Additional skills like ISO 9001 knowledge would be a plus.
