Our Environmental and Planning Team is based across many of Wardell Armstrong's offices including Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Bolton, Stoke, Birmingham, London and Cardiff.
The Opportunity Our EIA Team provide high quality support to projects including major infrastructure, renewable energy, minerals and strategic housing. We work closely with clients and project teams, both in-house at WA and externally, to consider the environmental impacts of a proposal and incorporate innovative solutions within development design.
We are looking to appoint a Senior or Principal or Associate Director specialising in Environmental Impact Assessment to support the Technical Director in managing/delivering projects and supporting the team of consultants in the Stoke office. However, we would consider applicants seeking to be based at our other WA offices.
We envisage the role to include: Management of statutory and non-statutory EIAs, including client and team liaison, programme management, document review and delegation of tasks to junior members of the team; Day to day management including coordination of team workloads and budget management; Assist in the professional development of junior members of the team; Develop opportunities with other teams with complimentary specialist skills including ecology, landscape, air quality, noise, archaeology, heritage, engineering, waste, mining, minerals, energy and climate change; Develop business with our existing clients and identify potential new clients; Contribute to the Planning and EIA Service Area coordination. We are very keen to hear from candidates who have the following qualities and experience: Experience as lead EIA Co-ordinator on large development proposals; Experience in the production of Environmental Statements, including the writing of non-technical aspects and review of technical aspects; A sound understanding of the English planning system, particularly the EIA Regulations; DCO experience is desirable, but not essential; Technically proficient with excellent report writing skills; Demonstrable track record in business development and building client relationships; Self-motivated with a proven ability to communicate appropriately and effectively; Experience of leading a team, including development of junior colleagues; Undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant subject; Professional membership of IEMA (Practitioner or higher); A full UK driving licence. The position is a full-time position although part time applicants will be considered.
