The EHS Assistant is responsible for supporting Health and Safety activities to meet H.B Fuller standards and UK Legal requirements and is responsible for supporting implementation and control of all activities and areas related to Health, Safety and Environment.
Location: Preston, UK Shift: Monday to FridayPRIMARY DUTIESAssist the EHS Manager monitoring all activities related with operational control (air emissions, waste disposal, hygiene measurements, according to the EHS monitoring plan; high level risk activities like confined space entry; hot work working at height etc.
)Coordinate activities related to the implementation, management, control and improvement of the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001).Ensure that EHS policies and procedures as well as all relevant legislation is followed.Ensure that all Waste and Waste Disposal areas are operating as per the requirements and defined standards.Assist with the initial EHS training given to all new employees.Stop any activity in case where the applicable environmental, health and safety procedures are not being implemented or followed.Ensure that all employees (including all subcontractors under HB Fuller's responsibility) follow safety rules applicable to each type of activity.Be an active member of the EHS team by executing internal investigations/audits as well as following up on corrective measures and improvement plans.Gather all relevant information and data to prepare the different mandatory periodic reports required by law (Environmental & Safety reports).Identify opportunities for improvement including resources to optimize the different processes under her/his responsibility.Continuously analyze the efficiency of test methods, processes and other activities and define the needed improvements and action plans.
Look for solutions.Assist EHS Manager on the coordination of all preventive, protective and corrective measures needed to ensure safety of people, installations, equipment and environment.Participate on the management and control of all emergency situations as per what's defined on the Internal Emergency Plan.Ensure workplaces are tidy and that general housekeeping is kept always at high level;When required, provide assistance to other departments on EHS related topics;Assist with ensuring that all procedures and work instructions included on the Integrated Management Systems (IMS) are followed.BUDGETARY / FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITYResponsible to obtain necessary quotes (repairs, supplies, new equipment) and discuss with the EHS or Plant ManagerMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSDegree in Chemistry / Engineering / EnvironmentNEBOSH General Certificate or DiplomaIEMA accredited Min 2 years' experience in Environment, Health & Safety area in a manufacturing environment.Good knowledge and proficiency with IT (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams….
