The Bereavement Counsellor will provide expertise in the support of bereaved families through counselling and support the Specialist Bereavement Midwife and the Early Pregnancy Unit in the provision of the service.
Main duties of the job The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and providing specialist expertise and sensitive care for bereaved families in order to meet their highly complex emotional and practical needs following stillbirth, neonatal death, miscarriage, and termination of pregnancy for fetal abnormality. They will be primarily based in the Early Pregnancy Unit but will support the Specialist bereavement midwife counsellor to ensure a streamlined service.
The post holder will work within the framework of the NMC Midwives Rules and Standards and Trust Guidelines and Policies.
The post holder will be a member of a professional counselling authority such as the BACP and work within their guidelines.

This position is open to those with a degree or regulated equivalent qualification in counselling. The post holder will be a member of a professional counselling authority such as the BACP and work within their guidelines to provide specialist sensitive care for bereaved families. They will primarily be based in the Early Pregnancy Unit to meet the highly complex emotional and practical needs following loss.
