Location: Kings Lynn Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Schedule: Monday to Friday, with weekend availability An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Draughtsperson / Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic team in Kings Lynn.
This role is perfect for someone early in their career with a background in design and a desire to grow within a forward-thinking engineering company.
As a Draughtsperson / Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, prototyping, and developing new products.
The position requires strong skills in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks or Inventor, and involves working with technical drawings and 3D modeling.
You will also support various engineering tasks, from producing drawings to liaising with customers on technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Design & Drafting : Produce detailed drawings from customer sketches, using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor, and apply appropriate tolerances.
Reverse Engineering : Measure supplied parts and create drawings for reproduction.
On-Site Surveys : Conduct site visits to assess and meet engineering needs.
Customer Liaison : Collaborate with customers to understand and clarify technical requirements.
Engineering Calculations : Perform calculations for material densities, motor requirements, and sealing solutions.
3D CAM Modeling : Provide 3D model data for use in the machine shop.
Laser/Profiling Support : Create DXF drawings, reverse engineer samples, and produce folding drawings for press operations.
Additional Responsibilities: Sales Support : Assist with small works projects to support front office and sales teams.
Documentation : Maintain confidentiality of customer designs and keep skills up-to-date.
Health & Safety : Adhere to company health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications & Skills: Minimum 2 years of design experience, with at least 1 year in SolidWorks preferred.
Proficiency in CAD software and strong knowledge of technical drawing and 3D modeling.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and PC skills.
Strong attention to detail and project management abilities.
