Main duties of the job Main duties of the JobAssist with the following Dispensary and Reception Tasks, Dispensing acute prescriptions when the GP has authorised, Dispensing prescriptions and collect charges, Prepare items and order stock.Reception Tasks, Making appointments, Registering patients, Opening up and locking up at the end of the day.

Receptionists are often the first person our patients see.
You will be expected to use customer service and admin skills to welcome people to the surgery.
As part of our team you will be expected to display professionalism, empathy, efficiency and patience.Duties: Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:Dispensary Liaise with and always present a polite and helpful appearance to the patients both face to face and via the telephone Taking and processing prescription requests.
To check and dispense prescriptions in line with practice guidelines including dosette boxes.
Handling controlled drugs and completing the controlled drug register.
Provide a point of contact for patients with enquires relating to prescriptions and ensure follow up action is taken if the enquiry cannot be resolved.
Ensure that problems and queries regarding repeat prescribing are brought to the attention of the , either verbally or using the task module on the clinical system and, where appropriate, follow up action is taken to resolve matters.
Ordering of appropriate drugs and monitoring stock control.
Regular tidying of shelves where drugs are stored.
Ensure drugs are in correct order on the shelves.
Date checking and rotation of stock Endorsing prescriptions (when required).
Bagging up of prescription orders.
Charging appropriate prescription charges by handling of money in accordance with practice policy.
Keeping logs up to date Make sure all others in Dispensary are working according to guidelines Make sure all SOP's are correct and up to date Reception Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional Utilise the computer system to ensure efficiency of appointment system and monitor flow of patients into the consulting rooms and treatment rooms.
Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail Taking messages and passing on information Filing and retrieving paperwork Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with Practice guidelines Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers Providing clerical assistance to Practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter Explain practice arrangements for registration and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors.
Enter requests for home visits on the visit screen including all relevant information and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor.
Action requests for ambulance transportation Should a patient have cause to complain it is the duty of the Receptionist to direct the patient appropriately following the procedures within the practice.
