Job summary Alongside the Director of Innovations and Research, the Director of Programmes (L&D) is the most senior role in the iHV after the CEO.
The Director of Programmes (L&D) will play a central role in ensuring that the iHV moves through a period of transformation in response to organisational growth and to strengthen its senior leadership team.
The postholder will join the organisation at an exciting time as we look to review our business strategy in 2025 to ensure that the iHV remains in a strong position now, and in the future.
Working in partnership with the CEO and other directors, they will support the development and implementation of the iHV strategic intent to ensure it meets its objectives.
As a member of the Executive Team, the Director of Programmes (L&D) will attend iHV Board meetings alongside other Directors and Trustees and may be called upon to deputise for the CEO and act as the Senior Responsible Officer for iHV Board Committees when needed.The post-holder will have responsibility for the overall performance, academic credibility, operational delivery and financial management of iHV Learning and Development (L&D) - with primary responsibility for growing the iHV as a centre of excellence through our L&D portfolio, maintaining the confidence of funders, regulators, policymakers and wider stakeholders.
Main duties of the job Overall accountability and responsibility for operations of the iHV L&D team providing leadership and management of all iHV L&D programmes, including governance, budget management, performance evaluation, needs assessment, compliance, stakeholder collaboration and programme delivery.Leading on the development of the iHV L&D strategy.
Horizon-scanning and research to understand future opportunities for iHV L&D in line with national policy priorities and developments in health visiting education.Leading workforce planning, line management and development of the iHV L&D team and external trainers, providing effective leadership which supports a positive work environment, promotes high performance and embeds good employment practices within the iHV.Responsible for income generation and budget/ resource management for iHV L&D.
Overseeing L&D programmes and the allocation of resources to deliver on the charitys strategic priorities working with the Business and Operations Lead and accountants to ensure good financial controls are in place, reporting progress against plans and forecasts.Building relationships across different healthcare organisations and external networks to develop strategic opportunities for iHV learning and development.
Work with the Communications and Marketing Manager to review and strengthen our marketing strategy.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential MSc, MA or equivalent experience.
Educator Cert Ed or other teaching qualification.
Active registration with professional body (NMC or equivalent).
Project management qualifications (or equivalent, with evidence of experience of successfully leading programmes at a senior level).
Completion of senior leadership development programme.
