Director Of Finance & Corporate Services

Details of the offer

At Norwich City Services Ltd (NCSL), a company wholly owned by Norwich City Council, we pride ourselves on our ambition, vision, and commitment to excellence. We care for and maintain Norwich's streets, parks, and properties, providing vital environmental and building maintenance services across the city. Now, we are seeking an inspirational Director of Finance and Corporate Services to join our senior leadership team, who will lead us into the next phase of our growth and service delivery.
Your Role As our Director of Finance & Corporate Services you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Board, Stakeholders and employees across both the company and the City Council, providing leadership for the corporate functions which enable effective financial management, decision making and service provision. You will be responsible for the financial health of the company, ensuring we can achieve our aspirations. Having a commercial approach will be key, as you support the Managing Director in developing ways of growing our customer base and income of NCSL.
We deliver some corporate services directly in house, while others are 'brought in' from the shareholder. As the Director of Finance & Corporate Services you will have the chance to review this mix of provision to ensure NCSL receives the best support from its enabling services, whilst seeking value for money.
About You As our Director of Finance & Corporate Services you will have the opportunity to use your experience and track record of leading, motivating and managing finance and corporate services teams to meet the company's objectives. You will be a professionally qualified accountant (CCAB, CIMA) and have experience of developing and sustaining a culture that meets the needs of customers and employees in an inclusive, open, and high performing environment.
To thrive in this role, you will:
Demonstrate commercial and financial experience including company accounting, managing profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheets. Have recent and relevant experience of driving transformational and cultural change and business performance improvements as well as operating within a company structure and understanding the requirements of a company directorship. Be comfortable in developing and driving strategic direction and business planning. Have an understanding of the challenges and issues facing the public sector, whilst having a knowledge of public contracts regulations. Why Join Us? This is more than just a leadership position—it's a chance to make a tangible difference to Norwich's environment, infrastructure, and community. At NCSL, you'll have the platform to drive positive change, influence key decisions, and leave a lasting legacy. If you are ready to take on a role with scope, responsibility, and purpose, we'd love to hear from you.
