Skilled Careers are pleased to announce we have selected to search for Business Development Manager on behalf of growing SME residential developer/main contractor based in South London.
Due to strategic growth plans our client is looking to appoint an experienced proven Business Development Manager/Director to join their growing business.
The client: They are an SME bespoke developer/main contractor based in South London which has been growing steadily since 2007. they currently have a turnover of around £50M and have delivered schemes up to £20M mainly within the residential sector.
I met with the Managing Director which has laid out he's vision to strategically expand over the next 3-5 years and has a target of around a £200M turnover.
They currently have an in-house main contracting team that has been delivering their own builds.
They have a plan in place to build a team where they can submit and win and be more competitive when tendering for more work.
They would like to be on more frameworks such as Essex, South East frame work for example.
They currently have a team of 20 staff which will rapidly grow next year and beyond, they have recently just appointed an experienced Operations Director which shares the companies vision and has a very strong tier one background and is highly respected within the industry.
As the Business Development Manager, you will lead the entire bid process from inception to completion, developing and executing bid strategies with a focus on securing new projects within the residential and new build hotel sector.
Your experience and contacts within construction industry will be essential as you collaborate with the internal Build teams to produce detailed bid programmes, costings, and technical action plans.
This will include managing tender documents such as PQQs and ITTs, ensuring that all submissions are accurate, comprehensive, and reflect a strong understanding of construction methodologies and project delivery timelines.
This is a pivotal role within the company as you will be driving the strategic development of high-quality bid submissions, managing tender processes, and fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to secure successful project appointments.
You will be working closely and reporting into the Managing Director, Operations Director and liaising with third-party partners, you will play a key role in supporting the companies vision and business growth.
The person: The successful person will ideally be working for tier one of two main contractor in a similar type role.
Proven track record in successfully winning new business with extensive experience in bid management and tender processes within the construction sector.
Strong leadership, project management abilities, and excellent communication skills are essential, Need to be proactive alongside the ability to think strategically about market dynamics, competitor analysis, and client needs.
Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and timeliness in all submissions are also vital attributes.
The salary on offer will highly depend on the experience and proven track record: Basic salary of up to £80,000 basic plus £5,000 car or travel allowance, pension, (performance related bonus/commission scheme on which will be discussed during interview) If you feel the above role sounds of interest then please contact me and we arrange a suitable time to have an initial undisclosed private and confidential conversation.
