The PWR Team are working alongside a Charitable Trust who are opening a new Alternative Provision in Rochdale.
They are in the process of recruiting a Director on a permanent basis, ideally from January.  This role will be the founding Director of a new Community Interest Company (CIC), founded by the local community trusts to deliver education and employability programmes for Rochdale, with the aim of reducing the number of young people not in employment, education or training (NEET).
The CIC will deliver unregistered alternate provision with a focus on science and sport for young people aged 9 – 16, as well as a flexibility employability programme for those 16 – 25.
This role is a leadership role responsible for leading a cohesive programme for young people in Rochdale and will report into the Board of Directors.
The post holder will be required to contribute to other projects outside their remit to aid the Trust's activities as a whole, including feeding into overall strategy and development for the Trust.  The role occasionally involves some work in the evening and at weekends [which will be managed in line with our Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) Policy] and significant UK-wide travel.
There will also be the opportunity for flexible working throughout this role.  Key tasks and responsibilities Formulate, develop and deliver a strategy that is ambitious, well evidenced and fulfils the CIC's public benefit purposes.
Ensure appropriate systems and controls are in place to effectively manage and monitor the quality and performance of the programmes and demonstrate/evaluate the impact.
Develop and deliver a funding model and business place that ensures a long term future for the CIC.
Develop, implement and manage an appropriate staffing structure for the CIC, including performance management and professional development.
Monitor and minimise all risk that may endanger the CIC's reputation, operations and financial position.
Lead on raising the profile of the CIC with senior leadership in Rochdale schools, and act as an ambassador to develop strong relationships Develop a communications strategy to cover all relevant channels and develop awareness and the reputation of the CIC to drive recruitment to programmes.
Oversee the production of publications produced by the CIC include the development of a website.
Person Specification Key skills and experience Excellent knowledge of office systems and procedures, including computer skills in Microsoft Office and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
An understanding of all levels of the education system, including senior leadership, and the needs of schools, teachers and young people Educated to degree level, NVQ level 4 or other equivalent experience with at least 5 years' office-based or school based experience  An understanding of the needs of alternate provision Experience Proven experience in strategic and business planning and programme management in a service-oriented environment Proven experience in developing processes and systems to measure, evaluate and demonstrate impact Experience of managing and monitoring budgets Experience of building and developing performance-oriented teams An experienced and enthusiastic networker with a proven track record of building high level relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders  Experience of good practice in safeguarding children Experience of fundraising Experience of marketing and promotion to education/schools/young people audiences Experience of effectively working with a Board Skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) Excellent organisational and administrative skills Effective problem-solving skills Excellent presentation skills Abilities Able to meet deadlines under pressure, often balancing conflicting priorities Able to generate ideas and translate them into working practice Adaptable and flexible with the ability to work effectively in a team and alone The salary offered for this role is negotiable dependent on previous experience, and the trust are willing to speak with professionals from education or the charity sector.
