The goal being to demonstrate inclusive and effective stakeholder engagement, to minimise reputational risk and to promote a clear, authentic message.
Reporting into the Chief People Officer, this role requires the successful candidate to lead the internal, external and regional communications teams, enhancing and protecting the business's internal and external brand reputation through engaging content.
Director of Communications / Director of Corporate Affairs Key remit and responsibilities: Lead strategic communications for key business areas including delivering communications campaigns, plans and thought leadership content for specific internal and external projects.
Develop an insight led approach and lead, plan and execute internal and external communications campaigns, in order to best communicate the purpose and effectiveness of company policy, innovation and service activity – implement effective reporting and feedback on performance of content.
Identify PR opportunities and lead on major media campaigns.
Manage and develop relationships with key media stakeholders.
Establish and maintain relationships with key industry analysts, media platforms, journalists and influencers.
Provide monitoring, insight and commentary on relevant media coverage and evaluate communication strategies.
Deliver reactive media response to protect and defend the reputation of the company.
Actively seek out best practice and undertake competitor media analysis, benchmarking and reporting.
Develop and implement internal communications strategies that foster employee engagement and a positive corporate culture.
Build relationships with key stakeholders within the business to grow a broader understanding of the business amongst employees.
Engage with senior management including Executives to craft and pitch press releases, interviews, videos etc.
Accountable for the overall Communications team, providing inspirational leadership which fosters engagement, innovation, performance and ensures the team is connected to the business's purpose and understands how they contribute to it.
Work closely with other relevant teams to ensure a joined-up approach including marketing, policy and stakeholder engagement.
Director of Communications / Director of Corporate Affairs Background and experience: 7-10 years in a senior leadership role as Head/Director of Communications Head/Director of Corporate Affairs within one of the following (or other related) sectors: Facilities Management | Environmental Services | Energy Services | Waste Management | Engineering | Heavy Manufacturing | Utilities | Transport Must have the ability to develop a cohesive strategy, the gravitas and influence to deliver it with credibility and the grit and resilience to uplift the brand in search of best practice/comms perfection Experience in leading and inspiring teams, as well as the ability to command respect from senior management.
Demonstrable track-record of leading high-performance, cross-functional teams Extensive experience of leading and influencing across a large matrixed environment with front line colleagues.
