Main duties of the jobWe are pleased to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced highly specialist practitioner psychologist to join our Diabetes Psychiatry and Psychology Service (DPPS) as part of the adult diabetes team at King's College Hospital. The successful candidate will provide specialist psychological screening, assessment and treatment to patients with type 1 / complex type 2 diabetes and associated psychological difficulties and become a valuable source of psychological expertise for the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThere are opportunities for both individual and group-based interventions which are used in the team to help address issues around adjustment to the condition, effective diabetes management and psychological and emotional wellbeing. Many of the patients seen within the team have complex issues related to multi-morbidity and you will be working alongside experts within the field of diabetes who are experienced and knowledgeable about the psychological impact of living with the condition. The team also has support from a consultant psychiatrist, with whom you will work closely to help manage and support the various levels of mental health needs within the diabetes patient cohort.
