Starting salary: PO4 £47,532 to £50,574

Haringey Council is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Development Support Officer to join our Digital and Change Directorate.

About the Role As a Development Support Officer, you will work alongside our development team to provide first-tier support to users, resolve issues, and ensure the maintenance of a high-quality digital estate.
Your role will involve supporting various digital developments and optimizing services to make it easier for residents to transact online.
You will actively own the digital support desk function and maintain products and solutions within our existing systems, such as CRM systems, websites, forms, and designs.

Main Responsibilities Provide first-tier support to users of our digital solutions, create new accounts, set permissions, troubleshoot issues, and allocate complex support tasks to digital developers.
Produce user guides and training materials to onboard new users and outline the features and functionality of developed products.
Deliver online and face-to-face training to users of core technology products.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to discover, prototype, and build digital products to meet user needs.
Attend sprint planning meetings and provide accurate task estimations.
Own the development tasks assigned to you and ensure all tasks are completed as expected.
Work closely with the digital scrum team to deliver quality outcomes for each sprint and prioritize work based on importance, feasibility, time required, and other factors.
Test, maintain, upgrade, and extend existing functionality, ensuring it is fit for purpose and follows development standards.
Carry out the technical support of the council's digital services, ensuring the smooth operation and availability of online services delivered to residents and the public.
Escalate complex issues to developers within the team, providing qualitative and detailed information.
Develop digital solutions, ensuring all development tasks are delivered at a high quality, on time, and provide an excellent customer experience.
Work closely with the digital team, services, change, and service teams across the council to identify opportunities, understand business and user requirements, and produce technical documentation.
Provide out-of-hours support if required for critical issues affecting solutions, tools, and services.
Maintain and adhere to development standards as agreed by the senior developer and wider team using best practices, UX, accessibility, and development standards when building processes.
Ensure potential risks and issues are identified to relevant team leads and mitigation can be planned.
Be a digital team advocate on all occasions, positively promoting the service, what they do, how they do it, and the outcomes the team is achieving.
What We Are Looking For Understanding digital services and the development of processes (using a CRM and development platform).
A technical background with software development skills and an interest in developing these further.
Proficient in writing queries using database structured query language (SQL).
Experience working in a support role, troubleshooting technical issues, and managing incoming support requests from users.
An understanding of software design principles and agile methodology.
Experience using testing to validate solutions.
Proficient in creating technical documentation.
Skilled at communicating reasoning, ideas, and technical problems using non-technical language.
Ability to quickly research, learn, and apply the basics of new development tools and techniques.
Keen interest in developing own skills, learning from peers, and a commitment to continual professional development.
Ability to prioritize and deliver under pressure.
