Description An opportunity has arisen to join the team at Cubico Sustainable Investments as a Development Manager - UK.
We are seeking a Development Manager who posses experience in assessing the feasibility of projects and managing the planning, consenting and delivery process of commercial scale wind energy, battery storage and/or solar PV projects.
This position will work from our London, Manchester or Glasgow offices on a hybrid basis Key Responsibilities Lead, manage and support the identification, evaluation, planning and development of grid-scale onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage projects through to a planning decision across the UK.
Project manage development opportunities through scoping, EIA, planning application and, where necessary, planning appeal.
Lead, coordinate and oversee the planning and consenting process across the Company's renewable energy portfolio to ensure consistency and best practice.
Oversee the delivery of land assembly and other property related agreements from initial site identification through to financial close by working closely with our internal Land team.
Oversee DNO and TNO budget estimates, grid connection applications and offers by working closely with our internal Grid team.
Work closely with our internal design and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery and execution  Management of a diverse range of external and internal stakeholder relationships, including landowners, local planning authorities and statutory consultees, as required.
Preparation and presentation of detailed feasibility assessments throughout the development process to gain internal approvals to proceed.
Manage the preparation and submission of planning applications, including NSIP DCO and section 36 applications  Management of external consultants and advisors delivering legal, planning, environmental, technical and other services throughout the development lifecycle.
Optimisation and risk management of projects to ensure continuing competitive viability, including the assessment of colocation opportunities with other technologies.
Management of internal and external resources to meet milestones, budgets and delivery of projects.
Representing the Company at community engagement, stakeholder consultations and other meetings and events.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise The successful candidate will have: Experience in assessing the feasibility of projects and managing the planning, consenting and delivery process of commercial scale wind energy and/or solar PV projects.
Proven track record of preparing, submitting and managing onshore wind/solar PV planning applications through the TCPA, NSIP and/or s36 planning process.
Experience of consultation with both internal and external stakeholders and in developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Skills and Capabilities  Excellent knowledge and expertise of planning practice legislation and the planning application process for onshore wind and solar PV projects.
Project management with the ability to manage complex projects and identify and mitigate project risks.
Ability to lead, manage and coordinate large multidisciplinary teams.
Well-rounded with demonstratable commercial and risk management skills, including budgetary control and project evaluation.
Knowledge of the town and country planning system and environmental effects of developing and consenting new onshore wind energy, solar PV projects.
Strong awareness of planning and local politics in the determination of planning applications.
Strong computer literacy skills.
Well organised, self-motivated and have a good attention to detail.
Be commercially astute.
Strong written and presentation skills.
Good communicator with the ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
Ability to collaborate and work across multiple functions.
Innovative with entrepreneurial spirit.
Preferred qualifications Degree qualified as a minimum in planning (MRTPI), engineering, science or other relevant renewable energy/environmental discipline.
Additional Requirements  Full UK driving licence.
Ability to use ArcGIS and/or other mapping software would be desirable.
Flexible and willing to travel across the UK to meet external stakeholders.
