I am recruiting on behalf of my client - a leading engineering services company specializing in delivering high-quality, innovative solutions for the water industry for Design Manager to take charge of their design team, ensuring the successful delivery of robust and cost-effective designs across various water company frameworks.
The role will involve overseeing all stages of the design process, from initial concept through to final commissioning, ensuring that solutions meet the client's brief and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and develop the design team, ensuring the team has the skills and resources to meet project demands across process, mechanical, electrical, ICA, structural, and civil design.
Collaborate with engineering and project teams to create integrated designs that are both effective and efficient, ensuring compliance with project briefs and client requirements.
Represent the company as the designated individual for Principal Design under CDM Regulations and for Temporary Works in accordance with BS 5975, managing all related duties.
Produce, approve, and deliver high-quality 2D and 3D design models and drawings using AutoCAD and other relevant software.
Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to ensure all design aspects are aligned with project objectives and timelines.
Ensure all designs are compliant with relevant standards, including WIMES, and that they meet the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental practices.
Organize and manage regular technical coordination workshops and design reviews to optimize solutions and resolve any issues.
Actively contribute to bid teams, reviewing tenders and identifying opportunities for value engineering and risk mitigation.
Requirements: At least 5 years of experience delivering design solutions in the water sector.
MEng/MSc in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, Structural, Civil).
Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution.
Proven experience leading technical teams and managing design work across multiple disciplines.
Strong knowledge of WIMES, CDM regulations, and health and safety practices.
Excellent organizational, communication, and management skills, with the ability to multi-task and oversee complex projects.
