Purpose of the Role To be responsible and accountable for a portfolio of Signal Engineering projects ensuring that projects are delivered safely, profitably, on time, to the required quality and to the satisfaction of the client Key Responsibilities ????? Signalling Design Management In conjunction with the Head of Signalling Design, ensure that appropriate resources are in place Build, develop and enhance client relationships.
Be able to prioritise, delegate and supervise the engineering team whilst maintaining control of projects at all times.
Demonstrate best use of time management, task prioritisation and communication skills and implement procedures to ensure continual improvement.
Ensure any sub-contracted design work is awarded and managed to a professional, cost effective and technically correct manner.
Ensure Company procedures are fully adhered to at all times.
Support the implementation of the Colas Rail Limited Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) strategy, associated actions and resulting initiatives, to deliver continuous improvement.
Ensure the core values of the Company are upheld Safety, Profitability, Quality and Respect.
Support the business as required to achieve its aims and objectives.
Ensure that fatigue management is implemented within the team and managed efficiently in line with the regulation guidelines.
Project Management Implement procedures to ensure change/variations are recorded; assessing the cost, programme and commercial impact.
To ensure project delivery and financial targets are clearly define and achieved.
To ensure that project budgets covering cost and man hours are defined from the project awarded and the budgets are accepted by the Technical Design Functions.
Maintain accurate programme/project reporting; cost and financial.
To support and have input to estimates and to ensure that all tenders are prepared, reviewed and issued in a timely and professional manner and in the best commercial interests of the business.
To support sales and marketing activities of the business.
Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
Person Specification The job holder will have experience in managing multiple (Signalling) projects and multidisciplinary projects and will be responsible The ideal candidate should have knowledge of Signalling Design projects, the rail operating environment, standards and safety procedures.
Qualifications/Experience Educated to degree level or equivalent A relevant Project Management qualification, e.g.
Prince Foundation / Practitioner, etc Highly experienced in the management of projects, preferably within the rail design and build sector.
Previous experience in the leadership and management of teams Effective communicator at all levels.
Previous experience in the commercial and financial management of projects/operations Proven success in building cross-functional and external relationships.
