Our client, a collaboration between two leading contractors, is seeking a skilled Design Manager to lead multi-disciplinary design teams on critical water infrastructure projects within the Thames Water region.
Responsibilities: Manage the overall design process for water infrastructure projects, ensuring that all designs meet client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Lead a team of engineers and designers from various disciplines, including civil, mechanical, and electrical, to deliver integrated project designs.
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and timely project delivery.
Oversee the preparation of detailed designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
Review and approve design submissions, ensuring they are technically sound and compliant with Thames Water framework requirements.
Provide technical leadership and resolve design challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure that design milestones are met on time and within budget, while maintaining a focus on quality and safety.
Engage in regular client and stakeholder meetings to communicate design progress and address any concerns.
Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers within the team.
Requirements: Demonstrated experience as a Design Manager or senior design professional, ideally within the water sector or related infrastructure industries.
Strong understanding of design processes and best practices across multiple engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical).
Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple design teams and deliver complex projects.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to lead teams and collaborate with clients and stakeholders.
Relevant qualifications in engineering or design management (e.g., BEng/MEng in a relevant engineering discipline).
Familiarity with the Thames Water Framework or similar utility frameworks is highly desirable.
