Design Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Design Engineer to join our busy design team in Littleport.
You will be educated to degree level in an Engineering subject or have relevant experience in an engineering field.

As a Design Engineer, you will be expected to provide day-to-day support to the design team on both hardware and umbilical/cable design activities, making key technical decisions commensurate with your experience.
You will be experienced in Autodesk software packages, specifically Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault, and have the ability to adapt to bespoke/non-standard software packages.

You will be responsible for generating documentation and designs for bids and projects.

Your main duties will be to:
Provide detailed design engineering for new projects, liaise with other departments to ensure understanding of all customer/project requirements and to support the Proposals, Purchasing, Project Management, Quality and Production teams.
Produce detailed technical documentation including specifications and drawings for internal and subcontract manufacture, ensuring full compliance, during all engineering and related activities with regard to sound engineering practice and adherence to relevant internal and external procedures, guidelines and standards.
Produce economic engineered solutions, considering all aspects from materials to manufacturability, whilst satisfying all customer and internal requirements.
Liaise with suppliers on technical and engineering matters.
Actively pursue the development of new products from conceptual design through manufacture, guaranteeing the development and continuous improvement of existing products and services.
Formulate good working relationships with customers and suppliers, communicating with the Senior Design Engineer frequently and keep them fully informed at all times.
Taking ownership of meeting internal and external deadlines.
Operate CAD package and design software, maintaining files and working environment in an orderly and safe fashion conforming to JDR procedures.
Complete internal and external Non Conformance and Concession/ Deviation Reports.
Educated to degree level in an Engineering subject or have relevant experience in an engineering field, you will ensure full compliance, during all engineering and related activities, with regard to sound engineering practice and adherence to relevant internal and external procedures, guidelines and standards.

Adept at working with others, you will communicate openly and well to ensure that any design issues are dealt with efficiently and effectively, ensuring a high level of accuracy is present in all design output.
Accuracy and attention to detail must be a particular strength as you will be writing and reviewing procedures and processes on an on-going basis, including reviewing client documentation.
