Deputy Medical Director - Research And Development

Job summary The post holder will be accountable for the clinical leadership in relation to researchand innovation in the Trust.
Up to 6 substantive clinical PAs could also be available to enable the post to be full-time.
Appropriate funding approval will be sought and confirmed once specialties of applicants known.
The R&D role is renewable on a 3 yearly basis.
Please give an indication in your application of whether you wish to work any clinical PAs in the Trust in addition to the 4 sessions for the Deputy Director of R&D role and which specialty.
Main duties of the job The post holder will lead the Management Team to provide Trust-wide clinical leadership for research; in particular liaising with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness, participation and multi-professional engagement with high-quality clinical research across the organisation.

Job description Job responsibilities Development and Coordination of the Trusts Research Strategy, ensuring that the Trust's approach enables it to be positioned advantageously in relation to NHS priorities, securing sufficient funding to enable the TrustTo support research at all levels required to deliver its ambitionResearch governance and ensuring protection of patients and promotion of research and are consistent with national governance expectationsDelivery of the 'bench to bedside' concept, enabling rapid translation of leading edge research into quality patients outcomes.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential MBBS or equivalent Full GMC registration Experience Essential Consultant or SAS post for 5 years Credible track record of undertaking and securing funding for clinical research Experience of clinical leadership Lead Clinician Evidence of understanding of governance and funding of NHS R&D locally, regionally and nationally Research Essential Up to date Good Clinical Research Practice (GCP) accreditation Personal Skills Essential Evidence of good communication skills with patients, colleagues and staff Evidence of being able to direct and motivate team members
