Deputy Maxillofacial Unit Manager

Job summary To support the Maxillofacial Unit Manager in the line management of the Dental Nursing team.
To organise clinical chair side support for the Maxillofacial/Restorative and Orthodontic clinicians, to lead on the day to day organisation of Clinical Maxillofacial Services and support the Maxillofacial Unit Manager in providing a Maxillofacial service across the sites whilst maintaining a high quality of patient care at all time.
Main duties of the job Provide professional leadership, advice and guidance to Band 5 & Band 4 Dental Nurses, Clinical support Workers and members of the MFU team fostering collaborative partnerships with other disciplines.
To assist the Unit Manager with the managerial and clinical responsibility for the service provided by the Dental Nursing Team.
To monitor performance and manage the Dental Nursing staff in areas of responsibility, ensuring all employment records are locally maintained and current in the absence of the unit manager.
Lead in the development of clinical standards ensuring these are set, embedded and monitored in accordance with the needs of the service in conjunction with the Unit Manager.
To deliver Dental Nursing and chair side assistance of the highest possible standards to patients in your care by ensuring that assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient care are undertaken competently by all staff.
Ensure that Privacy and Dignity of patients is maintained at all times with robust systems in place to meet this in open clinic areas.
To ensure that a system of annual appraisal for all Dental Nursing staff, setting appropriate performance objectives in line with directorate and Trust objectives expected performance of 100%.
Promote and maintain effective working relationships and communications with Consultants, medical staff and nurse colleagues About us We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people.
