We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic operational manager to join our QEH Medicine division in the role of Deputy General Manager. This role is pivotal to lead on the transformation and provision of high quality services for the community we serve.
Working with an engaged team of dedicated healthcare professionals and the Divisional Management team including the Divisional Director, General Manager, Clinical Leads and Matrons, you will develop the services which deliver best practice whilst maintaining financial performance. You will be responsible for the delivery of safe, efficient and high quality care to our patients as well as progressing the services within a business focus environment.
Our ideal candidate will have healthcare or NHS experience and possess a strong track record of operational delivery, strong financial management knowledge and skills, coupled with effective leadership skills. You will also have the ability to develop strong, productive and collaborative relationships both internally and with key stakeholders.

Main duties of the jobTo provide timely, efficient and effective operational management support for divisional service areas, assisting the lead clinicians and senior managers as required and ensuring that these services are responsive, innovative and provided to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.To take forward agreed projects to improve patient pathway, service delivery and patient experience in agreed areas.To lead on ensuring that all performance/quality targets are achieved.To problem solve as appropriate, developing and implementing lasting solutions in conjunction with clinical and managerial colleagues. To be a key member of the divisional management team, taking full responsibility for actions and for keeping other team members fully informed at all times.You will be responsible for the delivery of all performance metrics and KPI (Quality, Operational and Financial) targets, proactively identifying expectations and developing improvement plans with service leaders and clinicians. Job responsibilitiesTo promote and support the development of the Trust's mission, values, aims and objectives.To contribute to the production of the Divisions strategic and business plans, leading for identified specialities, as part of the annual planning cycle and on an ad-hoc basis as required.To monitor service delivery against strategic and business plans of the specialist medicine services throughout the year to ensure successful delivery.To work with the General Manager to produce accurate, high quality business cases for service developments, taking into account activity and income projections.To play a major role in modernising the operational delivery of services within the division in line with the strategic direction of the Trust, working with clinical teams to embed changes and deliver required efficiency improvements.Responsible for the delivery of identified quality and service improvement projects or development programmes that contribute to the modernisation of patient services.To develop a cross-working relationship across all delivery areas of care.To work with and support the Transformation team in order to implement change management.To work collaboratively with colleagues from Integrated Care Board (ICB) and partner organisations to promote the tripartite agenda, service integration and development.To deputise for, and act up on behalf of, the General Manager.Person SpecificationQualificationsMasters degree in healthcare or management or demonstrable ability to work at Masters levelDegree and/or equivalent senior management experienceEvidence of continuous professional developmentExperienceOperational management experience within the acute sectorProven track record of meeting significant national targetsKnowledge and understanding of the modernisation agenda and the opportunities for redesigning services and the tools and techniques for achieving service changeSignificant experience of staff management, including the setting of objectives, team and individual appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issuesSignificant budget management experience, including reducing costs, monitoring and determining corrective actionDeveloping and implementing strategic plans at service level to enable the attainment of Divisional objectivesSkillsFull range of IT skills including spreadsheet analysisExperience of dealing with complex issues in a large organisationECDLPersonal QualitiesCommitment to self-development with ability to demonstrate in depth knowledge of key policies and themes in healthcare provision in the UKAn ability and interest in coaching staff to improve performanceCommitment to promoting equality and diversity in the workplace and in service delivery and developmentDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£62,215 to £72,239 a year Per annum plus HCA
