As the Deputy Depot Driver Team Leader, you will report to the Depot Driver Team Leader or the Transport Manager in their absence. You will be competent in leading a team of drivers and will be confident managing the Depot and the Team in the absence of the Depot Driver Team Leader, covering annual leave and absences.
You will ensure timely and safe transportation of goods whilst maintaining high standards of customer service.
You will have excellent leadership skills, a strong understanding of transportation regulations and a commitment to safety.
You will assist the drivers unloading/load the vehicles each morning and be the last to leave, once all the other drivers are briefed with their loads and routes.
Leading by example, delivering the goods to the customer, with a shortened route where reasonably practicable. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: · Supporting the Depot Team Leader, supervising and motivating a team of drivers to ensure they meet performance targets and objectives.
· Supporting with the scheduling shifts and routes to optimise efficiency and meet customer demands. · Assisting the teams unload/load vehicles each morning.
Operational management: · Competent using the reporting tools and IT software.
· Collaborating with driver agencies to ensure cover for all areas of daily runs, including timesheet checks, in the absence of the Depot Driver team Leader.
· Coordinating with Transport Planner to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
· Supporting the Depot Driver Team Leader to monitor driver performance and vehicle maintenance to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
· Ensuring products are packed safely and securely, so as not to be damaged in transit.
· Assist managing returns and collections at the depot using the bespoke computer systems. Safety and compliance: · Conducting all activities in a manner that promotes the Health and Safety of yourself and all colleagues. · Supporting site compliance, vehicle checks, safety checks and ensure all vehicles are safe and compliant.
· Investigating and reporting any accidents or incidents involving company vehicles. · Ensuring all daily deliveries are completed exceptional OTIF control by ensuring accurate loading, unloading, and delivery and collection of all orders.
· Ensuring accurate checking and verification of all stock on all vehicles, reporting issues to the Dept Driver Team Leader · Ensuring all vehicles are kept, safe, clean and tidy, and no smoking takes place in the vehicles.
· Lifting, moving, loading, unloading, protecting, wrapping and managing all products and equipment safely.

· Providing KPI support on data entry on all agreed system sheets. · Contributing actively to achieving departmental service level and targets.
· Identifying potential risks, problems, or product defects and ensuring they are reported immediately and resolved or highlighted as appropriate.
Customer Service: · Demonstrating exceptional driving standards and compliance, whilst also being courteous and supportive to our customers.
· Maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing customer enquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
· Proven experience as a FLT operator and hold a current FLT operating certificate · Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the transport or logistics industry.
· Strong knowledge of transport regulations and safety standards.
· Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. · Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written. · Excellent computer skills and familiarity with transportation management systems. · Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
