About the Role: As the Deputy Manager, you'll be responsible for supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care in line with Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
You'll lead the team to deliver tailored care and support for a young person in a solo placement, ensuring that their emotional and mental well-being are at the heart of everything we do.
In this role, you'll: - Support the Registered Manager in managing all aspects of the home, stepping in to lead in their absence.
- Oversee the implementation of care plans to support the individual needs of the young person, in collaboration with healthcare professionals (e.g., psychologists, occupational therapists) and external agencies.
- Ensure high standards of care in line with our Statement of Purpose and the Quality Standards for Children's Homes.
- Promote a therapeutic environment, using the home experience as a tool for positive social learning and personal growth for the young person.
- Lead a team of care staff, providing ongoing supervision, guidance, and development to ensure exceptional care delivery.
- Act as a safeguarding lead, ensuring the home adheres to safeguarding policies to protect the young person's welfare.
- Foster partnerships with external providers, regulatory bodies, and families to ensure holistic care and the best outcomes for the young person.
Key Responsibilities: - Ensure each young person has a tailored care plan reflecting their education, emotional, and health needs, with regular reviews and updates.
- Take a lead in setting and evaluating standards across the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted and regulatory frameworks.
- Promote active participation of young people in the home's activities, encouraging responsibility and independence based on their age and abilities.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and culturally sensitive environment, managing the home in line with Health and Safety regulations.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff, including overseeing shift patterns and ensuring the home is adequately staffed at all times.
What We're Looking For: - At least 3 years' experience in residential childcare, including some in a supervisory role.
- A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential, with a willingness to work towards Level 5 Leadership & Management (with our support).
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection practices, and relevant legislation (Children's Homes Regulations 2015).
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, with experience in supervision and performance management.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster relationships with external agencies, staff, and families.
- A full UK driving licence.
