The Deputy Chief Nurse - Quality Governance (or Deputy Chief Quality Officer) provides strong and visible leadership to the Trust across the whole quality, risk and patient safety, patient experience and clinical effectiveness agenda.
This is a multi-professional role for which extensive management experience is required to lead a comprehensive portfolio, which includes quality governance, quality assurance, clinical outcomes, quality improvement, incident investigation and learning, complaints, legal services and health & safety.
The postholder will report to the Chief Nursing & Midwifery Officer (CNMO), supporting the CNMO and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in delivering their portfolio and providing oversight/assurance that the care and services being provided to our Women, Children & Young People (CYP) are safe, sustainable and of the highest quality.
The postholder will also work closely with and provide advice and support to other Executive Directors and board members as required.
We are looking for an established collaborative leader, with a strong ability to influence as you will be required to engage with staff at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.
Main duties of the job Responsible for supporting clinical services to consistently deliver high quality safe, person centred and effective care, with optimal outcomes for every patient in every area of the Trust.
You will have oversight on a Trust wide basis, advising how the Trust can ensure that it provides a high-quality safe service for patients and can ensure that its governance arrangements are robust and meet legislative and regulatory requirements.
On behalf of the CNMO and CMO, the postholder will provide leadership and line management support to the teams within their portfolio and support the divisional governance leads and in doing so will ensure that quality assurance is closely aligned with quality improvements.
The Deputy Chief Nurse - Quality Governance (or Deputy Chief Quality Officer) is responsible for ensuring the implementation of a strong quality governance framework that is multi-disciplinary, locally owned and provides assurance that patient care is safe and effective, with a system that provides point of care to Board reporting.
The postholder will need a high degree of credibility as they are responsible for leading the Trust's relationships and communication with external organisations and partners across the system on all aspects of quality and risk including ICS, CQC, Healthwatch, Scrutiny Committee for Health, NHS England/Improvement, HSE, NICE, HSIBB, NHS-Resolution and the Coroner.
