The Opportunity Amey has successfully secured an opportunity to support the Ministry of Works (MoW) Bahamas to develop their infrastructure and asset management capability. MoW recognises the unique capability within Amey and the benefits we can bring to help them overcome some of their significant infrastructure challenges, and we are working closely with the MoW to agree on a minimum 3-year Framework. A major part of our commission is to provide support in the replacement of the iconic Glass Window Bridge which is falling into disrepair, and we have already commenced work on this in the UK.

Technical Support to help delivery of the Glass Window Bridge ReplacementScheme Programme Development and DeliveryTransformation of MoW systems and processesFundingWe are in the process of mobilising a core team in the Bahamas to work with the MoW to develop a deliverable and fundable programme of work (under the above activities), develop relations, and further opportunities. This role is focused on the delivery of schemes, through the contract preparation, procurement of contractor(s), contract administration and management through construction and handover.
The role As the Bahamas based Delivery Director for this opportunity, you will be responsible for:
Overall responsibility for the performance of schemes in Bahamas and wider CaribbeanOverall P&L responsibility for your area of work scopeOverall country management and mobilisation of Glass Window Bridge site support team, and other schemes tbcHelping to develop and deliver growth strategy for Amey in Caribbean, identify opportunities for growing the team and other work scopeDevelopment, recruitment and leadership of the local Amey team, identify resource needsKey Account and relationship management of GoB clients and wider Caribbean clientsDevelopment of relationships with key overseas supply chain and partners for Caribbean businessResponsible for implementing and adhering to Amey governance processesReport on overall performance internally and externally (Client)Helping to establish Amey as a key professional services and infrastructure business in the CaribbeanEnsuring Amey Caribbean business works to the Amey CodeLeading the development of form contract to enable procurement of a contractor for construction of GWB (and other schemes tbc)Working with MoW through a procurement and tender assessment process for GWB (and other schemes tbc)Lead a site-based team of approximately 15 staff, providing overall direction, to undertake the following Contract Administration activities throughout construction, these include:Design liaison and interfaceReview of contractor's method statementsReview of contractor's inspection and testing regimeUndertake quality audits on contractor's processes and proceduresProgress monitoring and reporting in line with the Client's requirementsProgramme management, review of contractor's programmeCommercial management. Administer processes for valuation and payment certification, EWN and Change ControlFinancial Management. Administer payment and drawdown of funds via UKEFStakeholder ManagementThe successful candidate will hold an appropriate professional qualification (CEng, MICE or equivalent), have significant experience in client representation, project management, work on site and in the construction phases of contracts, and held previous senior leadership positions. Ideally, but not essential, will also have overseas experience in these areas. The candidate will also have wide-ranging experience in the management of contracts generally such as NEC and ideally FIDIC.
How will we support you? This role requires in-country presence starting early 2025 through to at least December 2027 with potential opportunity to extend the role beyond this date on other contracts. Amey will offer all necessary support regarding immigration, visas and relocation, and specific packages will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
