We are looking for an experienced Debt Advisor to join our team in East Lancashire.

Debt Advice Foundation is a registered charity in England and Wales dedicated to providing debt advice and education.
At the core of the charitys mission is both preventing and resolving unmanageable consumer debt.
While the charitys primary goal is to support those who need immediate help, it also places great emphasis on improving financial literacy among the next generation of credit users as a long-term solution to rising debt levels in the UK.
The charity achieves its objectives through a free telephone debt counselling service, which assists over 10,000 people annually, and through its award-winning school program, DebtAware, which educates children about debt management.
Scroll down for a complete overview of what this job will require Are you the right candidate for this opportunity The Role As a qualified Debt Advisor, you will provide debt and welfare benefits advice and support to people that have called the charity's telephone helpline.
Deliver a professional, impartial, pragmatic and outcome focused telephone advice service to all clients whilst working to sector best practice and quality standards.
Provide callers with advice on the following areas: Income maximisation, budgeting, priority debts, unsecured debts, formal and informal debt solutions.
Interview clients using active, sensitive and questioning skills to empower them to set their own priorities.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a high-quality service is delivered to clients.
The Ideal Candidate will have: Certificate in Money Advice Practice (CertMAP) or equivalent qualification (elapsed qualifications will be considered).
Should you not have CertMAP or equivalent, an option for gaining these certifications are available.
1 years experience in Debt services (telephone or in person) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish strong relationships.
Strong problem-solving abilities, with a knack for thinking both critically and creatively in the best interest of our clients.
An understanding of the issues involved, particularly with those clients who are experiencing stress and anxiety.
Whats in it for you?
Starting salary for a qualified advisor is £27,008.
Candidates that aren't qualified will start on a trainee salary of £24,008.
