In this role, you will take ownership of the project's technical assumptions and oversee all engineering activities.
The DCO Project Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with other project work package managers to ensure the project design is optimized for constructability and operability.
You'll be responsible for fostering a strong, collaborative, and positive working culture within the Project Engineering Team and across various functions.
Additionally, you'll ensure that all engineering activities align with statutory requirements and EDF Renewables policies, including Zero Harm, Quality, Engineering, and Design Management.
This role requires a focus on risk management and consideration of lifetime project costs.

What you'll be doingAs DCO Project Engineering Manager your key responsibilities will adapt appropriately to the project lifecycle stage, for instance in the:Pre-planning consent stages, the focus is on, supporting the planning process and providing a viable engineering concept design; andPost-planning consent phase, the focus is on readiness for financial decisions and procurement; setting up and managing contractors and client assurance of design; overseeing site activities and commissioning; and accepting technical documentation at handover.Examples of responsibilities across all project stages are as follows:Manage and develop the scope for all design and engineering work packages under the Project scope;Expand the identified scope into a work breakdown structure that identifies clear activities, deliverables and interfaces with other disciplines and delivery target.Assist the Project Manager to develop the programme and project management plans.
Be responsible for, monitor and report on the progress of activities within its boundaries.Develop the Engineering Management Plan and / or Design Management Plan to identify how Engineering will be delivered, governance applied and quality controlled.
This includes sub-ordinate documentation such as: CDM related documentation; technical RAID log (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies); stage plans; Pre-Construction Information; basis of design; requirements register; and interface control documents.Work with the Project Manager to ensure engineering and procurement related works are considered and well aligned in the overall project programme.Serve as a technical lead, providing guidance and oversight on engineering team and contractor Work with the Planning & Consents Work Package Manager to ensure the project design remains within the consent and is economically viable.
Manage and hold accountable the Project Engineering Team including contractors and consultants.Manage and document the design process.
Manage interfaces as required by the Project Manager.Work with the Asset Operations directorate to ensure operational requirements are understood and incorporated into the design.Ensure work activities are carried out safely and in compliance with relevant internal and industry HSE requirements (e.g.
CDM).Identify and pursue optimisations to maximise project value in conjunction with the rest of the project team.Support in the definition of technical team: identify the desired competence and skill sets required, define roles and responsibilities in conjunction with Project Manager.Identify procurement needs for engineering services in terms of scope, duration and cost.
Support the procuring of these services.
What do you need to be great at this role?
You will hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, Project Management, or a closely related field is required; an advanced degree or relevant certifications are preferred.
Significant experience in engineering project management, with a proven track record of effectively managing budgets, schedules, and resources across cross-functional teams.Strong technical foundation with the capability to identify, address, and resolve complex engineering challenges, ensuring project success and operational efficiency.Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences.Demonstrated leadership abilities, including a collaborative approach to team building, motivating diverse teams, and guiding project teams to meet objectives.Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and mitigate risks proactively, ensuring project milestones are met.Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, with the interpersonal skills to engage and interact with senior management, clients, and key stakeholders, fostering productive partnerships and ensuring project alignment with business goals.Closing date for applications: Sunday 24th November 2024 Why EDF Renewables?
