Job Title: Data Centre Engineer
Location: Slough/Faringdon
Salary: £30,000.00 to £38,000.00
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Data Centre Engineer to join a leading organisation in Hertfordshire.
You will play a vital role as part of a small team providing critical Data Centre services to a prestigious international financial organisation.

Responsibilities: As a Data Centre Engineer, you will:
Work on a 24x7x365 shift pattern, including day and night rotations.
Manage change control processes.
Resolve incidents and manage assets effectively.
Supervise and escort third-party vendors.
Plan and implement IT hardware installations adhering to strict Data Centre standards.
Manage the decommissioning of network hardware and structured cabling.
Update relevant documentation and inventories.
Complete service requests within agreed SLAs.
Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and quality standards.
Follow approved processes and security protocols for Data Centre operations.
Key Tasks: Maintain Data Centre toolsets for support and management.
Oversee Data Centre governance and collaborate with facilities providers to enhance energy efficiency.
Ensure the successful day-to-day running of the Data Centre, including installations, changes, and maintenance.
Work on Data Centre-related service improvement and infrastructure projects.
Perform basic server configuration tasks (e.g., IDRAC, ILO).
Conduct fault finding, escalation, racking, stacking, moves, changes, decommissioning, and patching.
Manage complex inter-rack and inter-room cable infrastructures to ensure IT stability.
Requirements: We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Proven experience working in high-risk environments and Data Centres.
Knowledge of DCIM tools and standards (desirable).
Familiarity with ServiceNow, Remedy, or similar ticketing systems (desirable).
Excellent attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
Strong knowledge of infrastructure technologies and networking concepts.
Proficiency in MS Office and helpdesk/service delivery applications.
Reliability, teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure.
Initiative and independence in completing tasks.
Flexibility with shift patterns.
Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, across all levels.
Strong organisational, interpersonal, and administrative abilities.
Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
