Data Scientist - Public Sector Hybrid Working - 1-2 days in the office a month £22 per an hour // £162 per a day 6 Months - Starting ASAP We are seeking a skilled Data Science Practitioner to join a collaborative team working across the Population Statistics, Population Transformation, and Methodology Directorates.
This role will play a key role in developing and building admin-based census characteristics research datasets as part of the Future of Population and Migration Statistics (FPMS) programme, which supports the ONS priority to improve population and migration statistics.
As a data scientist you will be responsible for; Develop High-Quality Research Datasets: Collaborate with the Population Statistics and Population Transformation teams to build research datasets that align with programme quality standards.
Evaluate and analyze both administrative and survey datasets to identify their strengths and limitations.
Work with multi-disciplinary teams to select and implement the most effective analytical approaches and processes to address user needs.
Lead and manage team members to ensure the use of appropriate tools, techniques, and quality standards, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Provide necessary training, coaching, and mentoring to team members and other staff, supporting their development and ensuring they have the skills needed to excel.
As a data scientist you will have the following skills and experience; Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Scientific Practices: Strong foundation in analytical techniques to interpret and validate data.
Data Engineering and Manipulation: Proficiency in handling and transforming large datasets.
Data Science Innovation: Ability to leverage innovative techniques to solve complex data problems.
Delivering Business Impact: Skills in translating data insights into meaningful business outcomes.
Developing Data Science Capability: Experience in enhancing data science skills and practices within a team.
Ethics and Privacy in Data Science: Strong understanding of ethical considerations and data privacy standards.
Programming and Build (Data Science): Experience in coding and building data science solutions.
Product Delivery Understanding: Knowledge of product delivery processes to ensure seamless project progression.
