Position Overview We are seeking a talented and motivated Healthcare and AI Data Scientist to join our team at 52North.
As a key member of our growing and dynamic company, you will play a critical role in developing data-driven solutions that advance healthcare and medical devices.
Your work will involve applying advanced machine learning, deep learning, and statistical analysis techniques to complex datasets, driving the future of medical technology and patient care.
In our collaborative and fast-paced environment, strong communication skills are essential.
You will need to effectively share your insights and ideas with both technical and non-technical team members, contributing to strategic decisions and the overall direction of our products.
Key Responsibilities Image analysis and computer vision: Develop and implement image analysis frameworks using deep learning and computer vision techniques to enhance the functionality of medical devices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate these frameworks into products that improve patient outcomes.
Work on the end-to-end deployment of machine learning models, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and reliable in production environments.
Conduct thorough testing and validation of models, iterating to improve performance and reliability.
Data analysis and predictive modelling: Utilise machine learning techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and insights from complex medical datasets.
Develop models that support clinical decision-making and product development.
Communication and collaboration: Clearly communicate complex technical concepts and data insights to non-technical stakeholders, including product managers, clinicians, and other colleagues.
Actively participate in discussions, offering ideas and feedback to influence product development and company strategy.
Collaborate effectively in a small start-up environment.
Qualifications and experience Essential Education: Master's or Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
Technical skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and libraries for data analysis (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn).
Expertise in deep learning, particularly in image analysis and computer vision.
Strong understanding of statistical analysis methods and their application to healthcare data.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for deploying and managing machine learning models.
Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyse complex datasets and derive meaningful, actionable insights.
Proven experience in developing and deploying predictive models in a real-world setting.
Communication and teamwork: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, ideally within a start-up or small organization.
Ability to influence and contribute to strategic decisions through effective communication and teamwork.
Domain knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare regulations and data privacy standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Knowledge of the medical device development lifecycle and regulation is a plus.
Preferred Experience in the healthcare industry, particularly in roles focused on data science and machine learning.
Experience with MLOps practices and tools for model deployment and monitoring.
Contributions to research in healthcare data science or imaging.
