Be-IT are working with a well-known Scottish organization to recruit a Data Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis.
This role offers hybrid working, and is based in Glasgow.
You will be responsible for creating an accurate, consistent and available record of key business information - mastered data.
You will have expert SQL knowledge, be well-versed in data wrangling and have experience with data pipelines – ingesting, validating, cleansing, modelling, and storing data from multiple sources.
You will also have an appreciation of a modern DataOps mindset, including resiliency, scalability and automation.
The role:
Data Engineering: Integrate data from various sources by cleansing, validating, and transforming it into consistent models.
As a Data Engineer, you will contribute to the development of standard data pipelines, processes, and best practices within our Data Engineering team.
Data Modeling and Design: Organize and model data to ensure consistency and accuracy, creating reliable representations of key business entities.
Database Design: Contribute to the design of operational databases for storing mastered data, ensuring the data is accessible in a reliable, scalable manner.
Data Management: Support data storage and management strategies in line with governance requirements, ensuring proper metadata is maintained for data classification and lineage.
Data Analytics: Collaborate with Analysis teams to derive actionable insights from data, supporting key business and product decisions.
Data Science: Apply mathematical, statistical, and probabilistic modeling techniques to uncover insights and enhance our mastered data.
The ideal candidate will have:
Expertise in SQL, with strong skills in data wrangling and working with large-scale datasets.
Proven experience in relational database design and data modeling.
Solid understanding of data analysis, with a focus on accuracy and extracting valuable insights to address business domain questions.
Proficient in designing, building, and monitoring data pipelines to efficiently move, validate, transform, and store data.
Strong grasp of data security principles, including securing data access and implementing encryption techniques.
Desirable, but not Essential :
Previous experience with master data management is a plus, but not required.
Knowledge of data science or machine learning techniques is beneficial.
Familiarity with modern PaaS platforms, Data Lakes, and Data Lake House architectures is advantageous.
Comfort with other programming languages (e.g., Python) is a bonus.
