We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing D&O and FI team as an Underwriter In this role, you will take ownership and accountability for key pieces of business and key broker relationships, both regionally/internationally and within the London Market.
Working within an experienced team, this role is suited for those wanting autonomy to develop and underwrite their own book of business, while playing an integral part in the growth of the D&O and FI portfolio.
The role involves working within underwriting parameters and authority levels to foster new and existing broker relationships by delivering high-quality underwriting and servicing for both renewal and new business.

Responsibilities: Underwriting & Risk Assessment - Underwrite and negotiate D&O and FI accounts, ensuring consistency with the quality of risk, aligned with the company's strategy, and within individual underwriting authority.
Business Development - Drive new business and maintain strong broker relationships by writing new and renewal business in line with agreed targets for Gross Written Premium (GWP).
Portfolio Ownership - Take accountability for underwriting decisions and own the development and profitability of your book of business.
Relationship Management - Develop and maintain close, effective relationships with brokers, insurers, and clients, including travel and client entertainment where necessary.
Client Meetings - Encourage reciprocal visits from brokers and customers, actively participating in meetings and taking a lead role where appropriate.
Compliance - Ensure all underwriting activity complies with relevant legislation, underwriting agreements, and industry best practices.
Market Awareness - Stay informed about market conditions, especially in the SME and mid-market segments for D&O and FI lines.
Experience: Experience: 5+ years of underwriting experience, with a focus on D&O and Financial Institutions.
Broker Relationships: Proven ability to build strong broker relationships, with a drive to source new business and identify new opportunities.
Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the D&O and FI markets, including regulatory environments and the key risks faced by SME and mid-market companies.
Technical Skills: Excellent technical underwriting skills with a pragmatic and commercial approach to risk.
Portfolio Management: Experience in managing a renewal portfolio and driving growth in new business.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
Teamwork: Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced team environment.
