Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen within our enthusiastic and dedicated Cancer Services team for 1 part time CWT (Cancer Waiting Times) Patient permanent basis.
We are looking for a pro-active, motivated individual who enjoys working in a busy admin environment to support the Trust in delivering Cancer Wait Times targets.
This exciting role will focus on expediting patients through the suspected cancer pathways from when the patient is first seen through to treatment.Duties will include liaising with Suspected Cancer Booking Office and specialties to proactively track and accurately record the patient's progress through the suspected cancer pathways and expedite the patient where appropriate.Applicants must have excellent communication, a good working knowledge of MS software, data collection skills and be flexible in their approach.
Candidates should also be team players and possess sound, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Understanding of CWT would be advantageous and experience of MDT processes is desired but not essential.
Main duties of the job The successful candidates will manage and track referrals for patients with suspected and confirmed cancer to ensure that local and national cancer pathways and targets are met.
They will work closely with both MDT Coordinators and Suspected Cancer Clinic Coordinators within the department as well as a multitude of colleagues in and outside of the Trust to ensure patients are appropriately managed on their suspected cancer pathways and be committed to providing a first class service for patients in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will need excellent, professional communication skills and the ability to liaise with both clinical and senior colleagues on a regular basis.
Their responsibilities will include tracking patients on all cancer pathways, attending PTL meetings, supporting the MDT Co-ordinators & cross cover of their CWT patient tracker colleagues.As the role is multi-functional and works within tight deadlines, the ideal candidate will be able to work on their own initiative and be both systematic and organised.
The role involves using a number of electronic systems so a high standard of IT skills is essential.
As the candidates will be working as part of a dedicated team, flexibility and a willingness to cover to help their colleagues is crucial.Overall we expect the successful candidate to be enthusiastic, conscientious, be sensitive to the needs of patients on cancer pathways, uphold patient confidentiality & be passionate about patient care.

Job description Job responsibilities To work primarily independently and on own initiative with minimal supervision to carry out the duties of the postTo track patients referred as suspected cancer to ensure their pathways meet agreed timescales/targetsEscalate patient pathways to ensure all stages (appointments, diagnostics, MDT meetings) are scheduled within the optimum timeframesMaintain close communication with the MDT co-ordinators and supporting the PTL meetingsTo communicate with colleagues in and outside of the Trust to ensure that patients are appropriately managed on their suspected cancer pathwaysAssist in the review of office protocols and working practices where necessary.Provide support with training for new staff where required, demonstrating duties to new starters.Ensure up to date personal awareness and knowledge of Trust wide issues and directives, applying knowledge in the workplace, including attending appropriate briefings and team meetings.Contribute to the cancer databases for patients (Somerset), updating records and contributing to the collection of data for audit and research purposes.Be familiar with national Cancer Waiting Times standards and undertake training and e-learning as requiredEnsuring attention to detail when tracking, checking patient records are correct and that the information you are inputting is accurate whilst upholding patient confidentiality at all times.Any other duties commensurate with the grade and in line with the requirement of the post.
