Working alongside the International Recruitment Director, this role involves designing certain content and developing the content taught in our academic and elective programmes, teacher recruitment and onboarding, academic oversight and pedagogical support for teachers during summer, and ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all ISSOS students.
Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Design & Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of a broad, creative and innovative curriculum aligned with the summer school's mission and values.
Research and integrate innovative teaching methodologies and best practices.
Develop and refine course materials, English Language level assessments, and learning resources.
Ensure class content meets the needs of diverse learners and caters to different academic levels.
Ensure all content produced is engaging and is delivered in line with the guidelines ISSOS set out.
Teacher Management: Recruit, select, and onboard highly qualified and experienced teachers, responding to changing demands based on student numbers.
Support the International Recruitment Director with overall recruitment goals, onboarding of all staff and attending networking & candidate sourcing events.
Provide ongoing support, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for teachers, from planning into delivery stages.
Conduct regular observations and evaluations of teaching across the three summer schools, including offering advice and guidance on classroom and behaviour management.
Foster a collaborative and supportive teaching environment.
Academic and Elective Oversight: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the academic and elective programmes and their content.
Ensure compliance with ISSOS and some academic policies and standards.
Implement strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
Act as first point of contact for all Programme Directors and summer schools teachers for academic and elective related queries.
Oversee the Academic Report process, from training teams on expectations to monitoring submissions and reviewing and signing off final reports (with the aid of the Admissions and Customer Experience Directors).
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff on academic matters that have escalated beyond the summer school/require Head Office intervention.
Provide regular updates on curriculum developments to Head Office, ensuring that messaging to parents and staff is aligned.
Build strong relationships with academic and creative partners and institutions for the purposes of teacher recruitment, content development or teaching training.
Qualifications and Experience: Master's degree in Education, a relevant academic discipline, or equivalent.
Significant experience in curriculum development and teaching, preferably in a summer school, international or ESL setting.
Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Excellent knowledge of current educational trends and pedagogical approaches for 13-18 year olds, with a deep understanding of working with ESL students.
Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Passion for providing a high-quality educational experience for young people.
Desirable: Experience delivering/facilitating training Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms.
DELTA or equivalent.
Experience interviewing and recruiting staff and building teams.
Role Details Location: Glasgow during the off-season.
Regular travel to and between summer schools during the operational period (end of June to mid-August).
Hours: 40 hours per week off season, however, due to the nature of this role, regular out of hours work is required in the lead up to the summer.
During the summer period, weekend work is standard.
From October to February (inclusive), the company operates a 4-day working week (Fridays off).
