Department overview: Global Credit Risk Management (CRM) operates as a second line of defence credit risk control function within the Risk Management Division. The function consists of around 200 colleagues across 5 regions; Americas, Asia excluding Japan (AEJ), EMEA, Japan and Powai. The department broadly comprises two global functions, Counterparty Credit, and Lending & Asset Finance, and is responsible for analysing counterparties, assigning ratings, opining on trade structures and mitigating features, and analysing transactions across a range of clients, including Financial Institutions, Regulated Funds, Sovereigns and related entities, Hedge Funds and Corporates.
Role description: The CRM Chief Operating Officer (COO) team oversees the operational activities of the CRM department globally. Based in London, the role reports directly to the Global CRM Chief Operating Officer, based in New York. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a Global Senior Leadership team, ensuring compliance with key COO activities and supporting strategic execution of key deliverables, driving efficient and effective operations.
The successful candidate must be a strong self-starter, who is able to influence stakeholders at all levels and deliver effectively through others, while executing on behalf of the Senior Global CRM Leadership team. The candidate will be required to establish a broad and deep network across Risk Management.
Primary responsibilities: Oversight and management of the global CRM risk register / RCSA, including leading the annual review, the opening and closure of items as needed, and the timely identification of emerging operational risks across the CRM department, especially where related to process, people or platform issues.Ensure general good governance of all CRM audit points, including timeliness of updates provided to management forums and committees, pursue completion of audit related action plans and coordinating directly with Audit.Maintaining an oversight across CRM policies, controls, data and key transformational initiatives, including:Coordination and approval of budgets for personnel and travel.Supporting the Global COO with Secretariat duties of key Credit Risk governance committees.Oversight and execution of CRM access and security frameworks, EUCs, regulatory requirement adherence.Independently leading key global COO strategic deliverables, and supporting Divisional Change Initiatives.Driving global CRM communications and engagement, including management of global Townhalls, on behalf of the Senior Global CRM Leadership team.Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required: Essential Prior experience in a COO/Business Management/Risk and Control role in Financial Services.Strong understanding of Risk and Control activities in a financial services institution.Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail.Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to draft clear and concise communications.Strong stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to build relationships across a range of stakeholders located in multiple regions.Adaptability to change and ability to work with others through influence.Strong willingness to learn and be able to work both independently and in collaboration with others, as required.Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to identify and develop solutions.Ability to interact confidently with senior management and maintain absolute confidence when required.Degree or equivalent education.Desirable Prior experience working with Credit Risk.Investment banking product knowledge.Nomura competencies Trusted Partner Understand clients' needs and issues, and provide solutions utilizing Nomura Group company's resources, earn the clients' trust.Acquire a wide range of knowledge as an employee of Nomura, instead of focusing only on one's own area of expertise; play a part in improving the company's services level and corporate value.Entrepreneurial leadership Take on new challenges for improvement and cultivate a corporate culture of challenge by driving change in business operations.Teamwork Collaboration Ensure views are not biased, accept different opinions and perspectives, and collaborate with other members to create common values.Influence Provide appropriate guidance to others and act in a manner that places emphasis on the performance and growth of the organization.Integrity Improve further the understanding and awareness of corporate philosophy, professional ethics, compliance risk management, and code of conduct, and make decisions and take actions from a management position.Diversity Statement: Nomura is committed to an employment policy of equal opportunities and is fundamentally opposed to any less favourable treatment accorded to existing or potential members of staff on the grounds of race, creed, colour, nationality, disability, marital status, pregnancy, gender or sexual orientation.
