COUNTRY PROJECT MANAGER - OHL TRANSMISSION Our client, a leading electricity subsidiary is part of a renowned international construction group.
Specializing in the design, construction, and maintenance of energy infrastructure—including power generation, transmission, and distribution systems—the company has a history of delivering large-scale, high-complexity projects that drive the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future in international markets.
As part of a groundbreaking 10-year partnership with Scottish Power , the company is establishing a new subsidiary in Glasgow to manage Overhead Line Transmission projects.
Currently seeking an autonomous and hands-on Project Manager to lead the project development of this strategic initiative.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director of the Electricity Division (Headquarters based in Spain).
The Project Manager also in a way a Country Manager , together with the Finance Controller will be the key people in the strategy and launch of the subsidiary in Scotland: One for the Administrative part and one for the Business (Develop Operations & Client Relationship).
Mission: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of Overhead Line (OHL) transmission projects in Glasgow (and other locations across Scotland), ensuring that project objectives are met in terms of timelines, quality, budget, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities: • You will be a key figure in establishing a strategic relationship with Scottish Power and Iberdrola, which will open doors to a closer partnership and future projects in the UK (and beyond).
• Build and maintain strong client relationships with Scottish Power, ensuring alignment with project goals and client satisfaction.
• You will be the main liaison with the client, responsible for overseeing operations, from initial development through to the execution of complex projects in the electricity sector (the initial project will be with Scottish Power / Iberdrola, with future OHL projects in the UK).
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (engineers, technicians, subcontractors), facilitating effective communication and collaboration among all stakeholders.
• Identify risks, resolve conflicts, and make swift, data-driven decisions to keep projects on track while adhering to health, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor project performance, manage costs, and present progress and financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in Spain and other departments to ensure alignment and coordination of sales activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience: • At least 5 years as Electrical Project Manager / Construction Manager / Site Manager with proven experience in managing Overhead Line (OHL) transmission projects or similar electrical infrastructure in the Scottish Market.
• Experience with Scottish Power: Direct experience managing projects for Scottish Power or working closely with them is highly desirable.
• Knowledge in Scottish regulations, contracting practices, and energy standards.
• Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, or Structural etc.)
Project management certifications like PMP or PRINCE2 are advantageous.
• Proficient in Primavera P6 or equivalent project management software.
• Strong knowledge of HSE and industry-specific safety regulations.
• Fluent English, with proficiency in Spanish being advantageous.
• Willingness to travel within Scotland and to visit HQs in Spain on a regular basis.
