Cost Controller Birmingham On site/Hybrid £55,000 - £75,000 per annum (Negotiable, depending on experience) £1,000 per month living allowance Role brief – We are currently searching on behalf of our client, an International Tier 1 Infrastructure Contractor for a Cost Controller.
This is a significant role tasked with establishing Project Budget and monthly Cost Reports by running systems for collecting, analysing, verifying, and reporting financial performance.
This role will be part of a major infrastructure project within a framework consisting of some of the largest Teir 1 Infrastructure Contractors currently operating in the UK.
Accountabilities – Within Cost Control: Prepares non-defined cost budget.
Ensures adequate analytical coding of all recorded expenses.
On a monthly basis: Preparation of month end documents, Preparation of month end journals, Ensures all costs and accruals are recorded during the month closing, Participates to the monthly review meeting with the preparation of the Cost Value Reconciliation Report (CVR), Conducts analysis between earned value and planned value, Conducts analysis on CVR variances.
Maintains monitoring systems for all cost indicators, targets and standards Management & Performances requested, Prepares Ad hoc analysis of costs, scenarios, efficiencies, if & when requested, Alerts management on budget variations and purposes improvement axis & actions plans to prevent recurring variations, Alert management for all irregularities detected.
Within Cost Assurance: Work closely with the CVA team, you will be the main point of contact for the CVA team and will have to answer weekly queries.
Work closely with different Project stakeholders.
Monthly reporting for Management (cost assurance strategy monthly meeting) Elaboration of "line of defence" library, Work in collaboration with the Afp team to monitor/resolve cost queried under the Afp process and linked with the non-defined cost.
(Afp=Application for payment) Review our internal processes.
Control the compliance with our processes in collaboration with the audit team.
Experience Required – 3-5 years' relevant experience gained within a contracting/projects environment is preferable but not essential, ideally as a Project Cost Accountant or Project Cost Controller.
Excellent knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting.
Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
Knowledge on power BI.
