Job Title: Contract Mechanical Estimator Location: South London (Hybrid Working Available) Contract Length: 9 months (Starting January) Rate: £300 - £400 per day Working Hours: 8-hour day with a ½ hour lunch, between 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator for a 9-month contract position starting in January.
Working on mechanical projects with values up to £550k, you'll play a vital role in delivering detailed and accurate estimates that meet client requirements.
This position offers the flexibility of hybrid working, though regular work from our South London office is required.
The office is conveniently accessible by public transport, with nearby train stations, and parking is available.
Key Responsibilities: Client Brief Integration: Review and define client briefs from tender packages to produce comprehensive, detailed estimates.
Take-Off Calculations: Perform accurate take-offs from drawings, including materials and labor hours, for commercial heating, plumbing, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Sub-Contractor & Supplier Coordination: Liaise with sub-contractors and suppliers to gather competitive pricing and ensure comprehensive cost estimates.
Documentation: Prepare cover letters containing project clarifications and exclusions, ensuring transparency and accuracy in tender submissions.
Tender Review Participation: Engage in tender reviews and meetings as required, contributing insights to support project success.
Requirements: Mechanical Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial heating, plumbing, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel spreadsheets and proficiency in MS Office, including Word.
Availability to Work Onsite: Regular onsite work in South London is required, with hybrid working available for flexibility.
Attention to Detail: Accuracy in calculations and documentation is essential.
Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers, sub-contractors, and internal teams to align on project specifications.
