Content Acquisitions Consultant
CPS Group UK are delighted to be working with a global entertainment brand to appoint a Content Acquisitions Consultant to support the Global Acquisitions team through the acquisition of finished television content for all brand platforms, including linear channels and DTC distribution.
The role will manage the acquisition lifecycle from greenlight to transmission and focuses on the strategic acquisition of factual programming that aligns with the brand's priorities and ensures high-quality content delivery across all regions.
This is an initial 12-month contract (likely extension) and based on a hybrid working model from the client HQ in London.
Role Requirements
• Support Senior Management in acquiring finished unscripted/factual content to meet the needs of global platforms.
• Negotiate deal terms, including pricing, rights, windows, and contractual specifics, in line with overall global acquisition strategy.
• Maintain strong relationships with content distributors, third-party production companies, and key partners to secure high-calibre content.
• Work cross-functionally with Programming, Legal, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure deals are well-structured, aligned with programming goals, and delivered on time.
• Oversee the lifecycle of acquisition deals—including greenlight, negotiation, delivery of content, and contract execution.
Ensure alignment with internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
• Support strategies for finished content acquisitions that align with global programming goals, particularly focusing on securing content for key priority regions.
• Track, update, and maintain all acquisition records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of deal-related information.
• Prepare and present regular reports on acquisition progress, financials to senior management
Required Skills & Experience
• Demonstrable experience (5+ years) in content acquisitions, distribution, or programming, with a specific focus on factual content and/or unscripted genres.
• Proven track record of negotiating and closing complex acquisition deals across multiple regions, ensuring both creative and commercial success.
• Demonstrated experience working with global content markets, particularly with global partners
• Strong network of relationships with content distributors, within factual television and documentary genres.
• Experience working within or alongside legal and business affairs teams, and operations, with a thorough understanding of rights management, licensing terms, and deal structuring.
• Previous experience in media/entertainment companies with a focus on acquisitions for broadcast, cable, or streaming platforms is highly desirable.
• Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to balance commercial, legal, and editorial needs to secure high-value content deals.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships and represent the company in a professional capacity.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deals at varying stages of completion.
