Job summary This is for a 10 -11 PA post for a Consultant Vascular Surgeon with an interest in diabetic feet and peripheral arterial reconstruction to work at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospital (BHRUT).
The post will be based at Queen's Hospital.
The successful applicants will support the current delivery of vascular surgical services as a member of a six-consultant team of vascular surgeons based at BHRUT.
This post will support the further development of the diabetic foot service and limb salvage and arterial reconstruction work across the organisation.
BHRUT is committed to the development of a world class Diabetic Foot service and this appointment will be a key part in that service development.
The Vascular Surgery service is based at Queen's Hospital with facility for elective and emergency surgery provision.
We have a dedicated vascular ward (Amber B) and vascular clinics are based both at Queen's and King George Hospital.
Main duties of the job Consultant Vascular Surgeon (Lower Limb) The principal duties of this post are to deliver a high-quality service to emergency and elective vascular surgery patients from the Barking Havering and Redbridge area.
The appointee would be expected to; Support and help the development of lower limb arterial services, limb salvage and diabetic foot care at BHRUT NHS Trust.
Maintain the provision of emergency care as part of the vascular surgical team and provide comprehensive management.
Provide a high quality, responsive service to BHRUT NHS Trust that assumes responsibility for the patients within the catchment area in co-operation with consultant colleagues in the Surgery Care Group and other clinical departments.
Work effectively and efficiently within a team Comply with the agreed job plan, which is reviewed annually.
Acknowledge continuing clinical responsibility for any patient admitted under consultant care out of hours in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for Hospital, Medical and Dental Staff.

This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams.
It'll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Full GMC Registration, MBChB or equivalent , FRCS NHS experience in elective and emergency vascular surgery Wide experience in the assessment, diagnosis management and treatment (including on-call commitments) of both acute and elective vascular procedures Desirable Higher degree Experience in managing emergency surgical patients Possession of CCT (or be within 6 months of being on the specialist register with the GMC from interview date if in UK training programme)
